Star Trek: Starships Model/Magazine Subscription

Interesting! I always thought that Bajoran freighter was a redressed model as well. EAS theorizes here (far down on the page) that it was cast from the same mold as the Husnock ship, which would explain why it has a generally similar shape.

Coming back to the XL-version of the Discovery, I can now say that I agree with @Markonian's assessment that it's not really a huge improvement over the original model. Unfortunately it's only marginally larger and doesn't really feature a ton of additional detail. For me personally it's still cool to own, because the saucer of my regular Discovery is somewhat crooked, while this one is perfect. For anyone who hasn't got either of those models and is thinking about getting one, I would recommend getting the larger one, as it's just a better size for the ship.

I saw that too. My assumption is that Jein created the Bajoran freighter in that way to show design lineage with the Ensign Ro "Antares Class" redress of the Husnock ship.

The series was always a bit too Voyager focused for me. I can't believe we never got the main Bajoran ship. It was even in the DS9 credits from season four onwards!

If that's the one from the Siege, of the Circle Trilogy I completely agree. Hell I'm greedy even if it isn't I still want one.

COVID isn't solely to blame if it's via the USPS...
Heck even the confirmation email from Eaglemoss for one of them took two week for me to receive, that usually within hours or the next day, and that is certainly not a postal issue.

Before my orders this last month, going back the last five years, I usually got a confirmation within 30 minutes. a few hours, 2 days, and 15 days for the last three orders. So yeah something is slowing down my orders more then just the changes made to USPS. Just been trying to catch back up to what I haven't got missed since February really (and longer with Discovery's line).

My shipping emails from Eaglemoss don’t seem to pull up the tracking info anymore either. I have the USPS Informed Delivery app & they do regularly show up in that a day or 2 after I get the Eaglemoss note.

I just go by that.

I've never heard of that. How does that work?

I did finally get my first of three orders. 14 ships. And I am sort of surprised I think my favorite is the Pakled ship, followed by Xindi Insect fighter. The Vulcan lander is good, though not accurate (it still looks really nice and displays really well). And while the detail on the Vulcan Warp Sled is really nice, why either of these two are specials is just beyond me.

The First Contact Borg Cube magazine contains no images of the original TNG cube and barely mentions it at all... Could that mean that they're already planning to release that version as a separate model?

They kind of already did, in the form of the Japan-only Borg Cube Special from DeAgostini. It was smaller than the first one we got, which was more First Contact-ish, and arguably more accurate. Looked a lot more like the original TNG version. I would be very happy if they decided to re-release that one as a special later on down the line. That and the USS Glenn are the two biggest holes in my collection to-date. The other holes will eventually be filled one way or another.

I really want the one from first Contact, and done better then the Japanese version. But I aim not holding my breath. Just got another 8 ships today. Out of the regular line I am still missing 7 out of the regular line, There are several of the exclusives that I don't want and don't think I'll ever get, but I do want the Bonaventure and haven't been able to find one. I stopped with the Kelvin specials, after the Franklin because I just don't care for most of the designs. I still have to decide if I am going to get any other XL's (didn't get DS9, Runabout, Romulan Ship, 3 Nacelle 1701 D, or the 2 Discovery ships (as they are already fairly good sized). I will probably get the Romulan Ship, DS9 and the Runabout (I love those ships/station, just wished they were better done, especially the Runabout which guts me). Oh, and my last order is for 8 discovery ships that will get me caught up on the Starfleet ships, I have decided not to collect the Klingon ships and most of the other random ships. I probably will get the big Klingon ship from the opening two episodes, but that's probably it. So yeah still close to a 800 left to spend to catch up as much as I want to.

Yet there are still about 50 plus designs I would love to get made into releases. Go figure.

And while the detail on the Vulcan Warp Sled is really nice, why either of these two are specials is just beyond me.
Yeah, I think the Specials should be reserved for the larger scale ships/stations. The Lander and Warp Sled should have been part of the mainline. I also think stuff like the Excelsior concept ships should have been online exclusives, while things like the Cardassian weapon platform and Friendship 1 regular issues since they were actually in the shows.

One other thing about the Warp Sled, the description mentioned the design has a "detachable fuselage pod" so I thought it was a Special because the shuttle would actually detach from the sled.

Regular Orville and Orville shuttle have arrived. The mag of the USS Orville is the same as that of the XL. Weirdly, neither the boxes nor the mags give any hint about potential future issues.

Aliens AMC has arrived. Compact, subtle aztecting, cool model. This one really feels like it should have moving wheels.

Do any of you have first hand experience with the Furuta line of Star Trek models? Are they any good and how do they compare to the Eaglemoss models? I'm thinking about getting the Stargazer, in the hope that it's more accurate than the Eaglemoss one, but I'm not sure if it'll be worth it.
I’ve got most of the Furuta ships. They were my first screen-accurate models.
I find the Enterprise-B and Stargazer turn out better than those from Eaglemoss. The former is larger, the latter smaller but gets the saucer shake right and is nicely detailed.
It took me almost three years, but I finally followed your advice and got the Furuta Stargazer, because I found it for a fair price on ebay. Comparing both models to photos of the studio model I found that despite its more toylike appearance and some weird proportions the Furuta model actually seems to be a little more accurate. There are things both models get wrong, but I'm pretty happy with the Furuta model because the height of the saucer just looks more like it's supposed to. The paint job and markings are superior on the Eaglemoss model, though.

Here are some comparison shots …

I got tired of waiting for Eaglemoss to make the rest of the Klingon models from DIS, so I bought the Klingon Fleet book instead, and I'm pretty satisfied with it.

There are weird errors in the second size chart though: The ship that's labelled chargh class is actually the jach class. And the one that's labelled jach class is the jach class as well, but the picture is stretched vertically to about twice the height it should be, making it look extremely fat.

They did that with the Bozeman side view. Made it half as tall as it should be but same width as the top view and totally distorted it. :sigh:

Oh they absolutely got the saucer section wrong on the Stargazer. It should be twice it's thickness. One of the biggest structural errors in the first years of the collection.

With all its various shuttle bays, with a saucer section about half of its actually volume, I wonder if there is room for anything in it.

yeah, I just placed an order in the last few days. It took a few hours to get the confirmation, a few days to get the “order has shipped” email and the link for tracking pulls up nothing. And finally just today they charged my card.

I gotta think it has to be due to low staffing.
