Star Trek: Starships Model/Magazine Subscription

There's been talk about it ever since they released the first pictures on the web shop. I was hoping it might be merely an unfinished prototype, but the first models have been delivered now... (The pictures are from here.)

Some things can only be expressed through Spongebob memes.
The concept Reliant seems to be a nice model though, mine will probably arrive on Monday.

The bridge looks exactly the same as on the regular model to me.

And according to the comparison pictures here, the EM model has the Where no Man has Gone Before end caps, not the The Cage ones.

That's really sad.:sigh:
That's one of the ships (like the XXL E-refit) that I would have definitely gotten - if it were correct. As is, it's too similar to the (honestly amazing) original Enterprise model, so not worth a purchase for me...

I tend to buy a couple models each year from a local retailer at comic con but because of the virus the con is cancelled, so I ordered the Discoprise and the Doomsday Machine from him for delivery today.

Last week I ordered shirts from another mom and pop shirt vendor I buy from at the con each year.

This isn’t good:
Dear Collector,

If there’s one thing we all have in common, it’s a love of collecting. But there’s something else we share and that’s been made abundantly clear these past few weeks — it’s a love of our customers, families, friends, coworkers and neighbors. That’s why we at Eaglemoss Hero Collector made the decision to have our employees around the world work safely from home until such time when all of us — colleagues and customers — can once again return to some semblance of normalcy.

With enhanced health and safety protocols firmly in place to safeguard against spread of the COVID-19 virus, we also want to assure you that we presently anticipate no major delays in the shipments of products already in our warehouse to customers in the US, CANADA and MEXICO. Further, we are not experiencing any delays or interruption of service by carriers we use to deliver shipments to you. Our warehouse facilities and personnel are following stringent hygiene guidelines in the handling and packing of products to minimize health risks.

As far as products coming from our manufacturing partners overseas, we anticipate moderate delays as a result of production gradually ramping down after recent closures and potential delays in U.S. Customs clearance.

Our customer service lines and corporate functions remain fully operational to support online store and subscription sign-up sites. We will keep you informed of any delays and changes that may impact your orders.

At this time of great change and challenge, we remain grateful for valued customers and look forward to continuing the pursuit of the passion for collecting that drives us all.

Totally understandable, but I think shipping interruptions have already occurred, in all Trek lines, as well as the DeLorean build, due to extensive widespread CV problems in China. Only going to get worse, I’m afraid. It must be bad, because Eaglemoss has never sent out a communication of this (or any other) nature to its customers, outside of marketing announcements for new releases. We’ll see...

My Doomsday Machine and Discoprise arrives today, but I didn't have much time to look at them. This is the reg Discoprise, not the XL. It feels... Flimsy. Is that what all the Disco line is like? It looks cool but seems super fragile....

Nah, the other ships are actually quite compact and sturdy. I suppose the Buran might be a little on the more splayed-out end of the spectrum with the four engines on long pylons, but even that seems well put together.

TBH, with the exception of the Polar Lights kits (that excelled in their engineering) all the Connie models had the unfortunate design flaw of flimsy nacelle pylons and eventually broke after a few years. The Discoprise is no different in that regard.

Just got word the 4 store exclusive ships I bought should be here Saturday. That’s the D4 Concept, Cardie weapons platform, Friendship One, and the Reliant Concept. Makes up for not having had a comic book day this week due to quarantine.

That's the first time in ages that I can remove a ship from my wishlist.

I hope they're really recreating the surface structure of the First Contact version in some way and not just use the similar VOY CGI model.

They're different? I'd have thought VOY just reused the available material from FC.

Unless that was a physical model, instead of CG.

The FC ship was a physical model (well, a couple of physical models). The VOY cube was intended to be a bit of a hybrid of the FC and QW models, though with the technology of the time, most of the detailing was faked with texture maps (and the cubes were only three-sided, since you can only see at most three sides of a cube at once, and it let them cram more data in the model).
