Star Trek: Starships Model/Magazine Subscription

it appears that someone sold off the rights to the TOS Enterprise design to parties unknown!
What's Elon Musk working on at the moment?

As for the future of the Eaglemoss collection I wouldn't mind seeing more concept art ships becoming a reality. There is a well of ships from novels and comics that could be realized. There might be some kitbashes we never saw before around somewhere.

This is a bit random but I had a dream that the ships were edible and I ate the nacelles of several ships. What does that say about me?
It represents your fear of accidentally breaking off nimble components - nacelles are usually the most vulnerable parts - and being unable to fix it in any way.

I was thinking I love to eat way too much, but I like your explanation better.

And I know the pain, I accidentally broke the nacelles of my old Enterprise-A off when I was a teenager. :(

I just noticed the Discovery and Shenzhou are out of stock. I didn't get them because I thought they were too expensive, that's what I get for waiting too long. I'll get a chance to buy them eventually but I'll definitely get the other Disco federation ships as soon as they're out.

Both have been out of stock for ages. I’m waiting for their return so that I can get the Disco as surprise gift for a friend.

not sure where trekcore got this, but

Eaglemoss has announced their ENTERPRISE-F coming this year!

I love that ship.

Hero collector has it as well, and their images are hosted on eaglemoss.com so

I genuinely couldn't believe that - it seemed to make no sense and I assumed Eaves had been misquoted and misunderstood.

Having read the full quotes, it explains a lot about Discovery's visual design choices, especially the "no round nacelles" rule.
Except the DSC Connie has round nacelles, so I'm not sure what you're getting at.

According to Eaves, Bryan Fuller is the one who requested him not to use round nacelles.

Whoa, definitely some interesting stuff there! But I wish they would have released the TAS Bonaventure instead of the SOTL version. The latter is a cool design, no doubt, but the ship from TAS is more “official”.

Usually I'd agree but the TAS Bonaventure is butt ugly.

Glad to see they're doing Sternbach's Voyager concept. But how is Drexler's Altair a "Voyager concept?" Wasn't it the basis for the Enterprise-J from ENT?

It is both. The Altair is based off one of Doug's Voyager concepts, which went on to inspire the Ent-J. It was also pitched as a possible design for the NX-01.

Very cool! On a related note, I spoke with the artist of the Bonaventure when it first came out, and he said that it was a very incomplete model and was only mapped and detailed for the side facing the camera for the SotL calendar where it first appeared. He sent me a dorsal ortho for use on the SSDB, showing the reversed registry and the other imperfections. Still, a cool looking model. Hopefully it will finally get the full treatment it deserves. I, too, wished we would see a realized TAS Bonaventure, but this one is a nice addition to the line in any case. Very glad to see more "soft canon" designs.

In other news, CBS has confirmed that the DISCO Enterprise redesign was, in fact, NOT a legal decision, but purely a creative one. So who the fuck even knows anymore.

I voted for both Bonaventures. I would have liked to have seen the TAS more since it's an onscreen ship but the calendar Bonaventure is hot.

Weird, why would two artists say it was a legal requirement? Especially the whole 25% thing. I can't take these official statements at face value.

Between this and one of the writers saying they can't use anything from any of the movies due to the CBS/Paramount split, I think it's a sad case of the people making the show having no idea what they can and can't do and no understanding of why.

Because they don't know what they're talking about when it comes to legal matters? They're artists not lawyers, it's easy to misunderstand something or maybe they were lied to or maybe they lied to get fans of their backs for the redesign.

It doesn't really matter, CBS obviously owns the original design, I'm not sure why that was ever questioned, they wouldn't slap their copyright on it every chance they get if they didn't own it.
