Star Trek: Starships Model/Magazine Subscription

Yeah, I meant to say that Voyager is larger than the TOS Enterprise but has a third of the crew. On Voyager everyone has their own quarters, and space is taken up with holodecks that the Enterprise never had.

Mind you, TOS actually suggests everyone has their own room (barracks with bunks were a Nick Meyer invention for TUC), and space is taken up with a swimming pool, bowling alley and botanical garden, all of which were replaced with holodecks on Voyager.

They also had food synthesisers, which may have needed more machinery and supplies than replicators.

Got my USS Titan today! And from Facebook & Instagram seems quite a few others have too. So 8 days after it became available on the UK webshop, that's not too bad.

It's pretty disappointing the blue in the nacelles isn't clear plastic and is simply painted on, when it pretty much every other Starfleet model it is clear plastic. And someone on Instagram noticed the registry on the nacelle is slightly in the wrong place, but can't say I would have even noticed that myself. But apart from that cool model and pretty awesome it got made :techman:
Came with a magazine too which was a nice read all about the designing of it. But why isn't there a page on 'key appearances'?? ;) ;)

I'd probably give it 7.5/10, if it wasn't for those nacelles it would be higher. But I'm happy it was the price of a standard issue at least, they could have easily charged more if they'd wanted to and probably gotten away with it.

And I wonder how many people have bought this (like me) and never even read even the Titan books. Just wanted it because it looks cool :D

I'm one! :) Never read a single one of the Titan books, but I love the design. I'm actually a fan of Sean Tourangeau's work in general, but I haven't seen him around these parts in a while. Curious what he thinks of how it turned out.

I received my Titan today as well minus the magazine. The packing slip says one item is on back order so that must be it.

The port nacelle has a litte bit of messed up paint near the registry but not enough for me to bother asking for a replacement. I do read the books & the next one comes out in a few months so you better believe I'm going to be like a little kid & have it near me to follow along with when I'm reading.

Took a couple of pictures of it

I haven't received the Titan yet but from the pics I think it looks great. My only gripe isn't the blue painted nacelles, but those saw edges on the nacelle pylons which don't exist on the cg models.

Recieved my Titan today (UK, ordered direct from eaglemoss), have to agree with the dissapointing blue nacelles others have mentioned, but so glad it got made. Really can't wait for the Aventine though. As much I like/wanted the Titan, have to admit that part of my reason for getting it straight away was to help boost the numbers of non-canonical ships.

Also, random question, but did the regular magazines come out in a different order in different countries? I started subscribing a short while ago, and of my first five models, only one is the same (magazine) number as listed on the Memory-Alpha list, which is the Ent-D, which is #1. Just like my Klingon Bird of Prey...

You might get them in a different order depending on what they have in stock, but wouldn't have thought the numbers would have changed, which ones have you got and what the magazines numbered?

Speaking of the Klingon Bird of Prey, #107 the BOP in Attack Posistion was out today in the UK, picked it up earlier. It was hard to really be excited about this one when essentially we've already got it, but still guess it's its most iconic look. Looks nice next to the USS Defiant as if it were the Rotarran.
The Cheyenne Class is the next issue and can't wait for that one.

ps. the only thing about the USS Aventine, is that it's a pretty long ship. So therefore like the original Enterprise-E model and the Excelsior, it'll probably be quite a small thin model

Enterprise D - 1 (in blue)
Klingon BOP - 1 (in green)
Excelsior - 2
Enterprise refit - 5
Enterprise NX - 8

Yeah that's weird. There was something about them relaunching the collection recently, so maybe they've changed the order a little for that. Not really sure why though, it'll just confuse people.

For the record the first 10 were (irregardless of colour)
  1. Enterprise-D
  2. Enterprise Refit
  3. Klingon BOP
  4. Enterprise NX-01
  5. Romulan Warbird
  6. Voyager
  7. Klingon K'Tinga
  8. Excelsior
  9. Defiant
  10. Borg Sphere

Doesn't make a huge difference, just seemed a bit odd. I've put the mags in the binder in inuniverse chronological order, and am probably gonna cancel the subscription and just order as and when from the website anyway.

FWIW, the first couple of issues for the German edition of the collection had a slightly different order from the UK version, but they quickly lined up and are identical now.

My local comic book store restocked some older issues, and I noticed that the first issue (Enterprise-D) didn't have the number printed on it. The little white triangle in the upper corner where the number is was blank.

I also don't think they say "fortnightly" on them either, come to think about it. And the back pages are just a general "still to come in this collection" rather than "coming in the next issue"...

Interesting - just got an announcement email saying the Swarm Ship special is heading my way soon, completely jumping over the Franklin. I figured this might be the case and it's now confirmed. :sigh: Guess I'll need to look for one out there...thataway.

second star to the right and straight on to eBay.

How weird though that you – as a subscriber – have to purchase the model on your own instead of them at least offering it to you.

D-5 arrived yesterday, lighter than expected but a solid ship like most of the enterprise stuff.

i'm not a subscriber, usually rely on eBay or an out of town hobby shop - los angeles hobby shops never have new eaglemoss ships anymore. i ordered this one directly from eaglemoss because it's one of my favorite designs. i was feeling eager i had them expedite for it an exorbitant amount.

only to have it take a whopping 8 days to arrive.

first world problems, i know. but seriously, in the age of amazon, eaglemoss is especially egregious with their shipping times. 48 hours to process my order? it should be at my doorstep in 48 hours.

I had a lot of open holes in my subscription over the past year. 6 actually, that I just finally completed filling only last week. Once they go past the regular distribution date, they don't backfill (despite many documented claims by their "customer service" personnel to the contrary). And if they run out of stock during that time before you're supposed to get yours, you may as well forget about ever getting one and it's on you to get them individually, and almost always at a higher price tag than what you would normally pay for the sub. This thread is full of horror stories from people, including myself (mostly in the US), not getting what they should. The problems started with the Enterprise-J issue and kept on from there, inconsistently. I am personally convinced that the people at the Pennsylvania facility where all US deliveries originate have been overrun by Walking Dead and that all the systems there are slowly breaking down from lack of attention. But seriously, it's all because of the idiots running the show in PA. When the Brits were running things, they were slow, but top-notch reliable. After things got moved over here locally, it's really been shit ever since.

And don't get me started on how some things were "out of stock" for us subscribers, yet plentiful and available through the main Eaglemoss Online Store (at markedly higher prices, of course). Now THAT is what makes the LEAST amount of sense!
