Star Trek: Starships Model/Magazine Subscription

Just got my next shipping notice and still no Borg cube. :(

BINDER BINDER 1 Shipped Out 7/9/2015
MAGIS48 MAG ARMORED USS VOYAGER 1 Shipped Out 7/9/2015
MAGIS47 MAG KLINGON IKS- NEGH' VAR 1 Shipped Out 7/9/2015
ISSUE47 KLINGON IKS-NEGH'VAR 1 Shipped Out 7/9/2015
ISSUE48 ARMORED USS VOYAGER 1 Shipped Out 7/9/2015

Same here. I did expect the cube to be shipped seperate from the regular monthly shipment anyway, so I am not yet worried. If we start getting near the end of the month without a cube, then I'll start shooting off emails.

I received mine in separate boxes but they arrived on the same day. I also got it with issues 40 & 41.

It's actual a pretty weak design but my biggest gripe (as I had with the DS9 model) is it doesn't have a stand. It really needs one because it looks kind of stupid just sitting flat on the shelf... :(

I've only been getting the ships I want, I considered signing up for the entire run but it seemed like a lot of money to spend when I only wanted a handful of ships and the bulk of this is going to be various alien ships.

Anyway, or pre-ordered my Ent-C and TOS 1701 today, those I'm looking forward too! I may break-down and get the -B at some point, but I already have the Excelsior, but I guess in order to have the entire run of Enterprises I'd need to get the actual -B and the -A.

Really not sure what else I'd get after that, however. Nothing springs to mind. Maybe an Oberth?

Got my models finally. The Borg Cube came in the same package too. The armored Voyager is sleek. The Negh'Var is okay.

I understand everyone's gripes with the cube, but I love it. Hey, it was free, and it glows too:eek:?! What more could I ask for?

^^^ Exactly! :) For what it is, I think it's actually pretty good.

Just got the double-tap yesterday for the regular upcoming shipment plus what I think is the NuTrek D-4 coming in the same shipment. Will know hopefully within the next day or two...

Could you please post some pictures of these?

There's some ships coming up that are really exciting, particularly because they've never been done before, which tend to be the ones that interest me most.

For Fed lovers, there's the Centaur, the Steamrummer class, and the Sabre class. (The Norway class is confirmed down the line, which will complete the quartet of "First Contact" ships).

I, personally, really like ENT ships, so I got the Andorian ship, the Romulan drone, and the 22nd century BoP, all of which look REALLY nice. I'm probably going to buy the Klingon Raptor on Friday too, I'm excited about the Klingon Augment ship and the Vulcan D'Kyr-type (which looks much nicer than the Suurok class, though I have one of those). I'm looking forward to the Breen ship too.

They're only about two ships away from having covered EVERY type of Klingon ship (I think it's just the D5 and the the ship from "Bounty"), so I really hope that happens too.

I, too, am looking forward to getting the more obscure Fed & Klingon ships, particularly the Centaur & D5. I'm one of those weirdoes who would love to see more of the DS9 kitbashed franken-fleet, in all its fugly glory, just 'cause they're so freaking odd-looking.

Never been a big fan of Voyager's "alien of the week" ships. Not really their fault, though. I suspect they were getting burned-out at trying to come up with new designs every week. Nowhere was it more obvious than in one of the race participants named "Assan" (in the episode "Drive"), whose ship strongly resembled an original Cylon Raider from Battlestar Galactica, right down to the tell-tale green Cylon double-pentagon logo on the wings.

Bless their hearts, they did try...

They probably intended it as an homage for fans to pick up on. In the junkyard scene in the show 'Alice' there is a perfect replica of the alien craft from Gerry Anderson's 'UFO' mixed in with the other hardware.

The Assan ship you linked to does have a strong resemblance to the Cylon fighter, the inclusion of the Cylon sysmbol on it leads me to thing it was a deliberate Easter Egg to the fans.

It's possible, much as the way the Millenium Falcon can be seen if you freeze frame the battle in "First Contact". (Apparently the then-new BSG also influenced the look of the Andorian ship)

Then again, it may simply be a coincidence of a similar design. Either way, frankly, most Voyager ships-of-the-week don't really interest me, though a few designs got recycled for more memorable appearances later on, like the Romulan drone ship.

Well, I finally picked up the Klingon Raptor today. I'm pretty happy with it. There seems to be a lot more metal than plastic to this one, which is a good thing. I've mentioned before how strange it was that this design was never seen again, and in retrospect that's even more of a pity, since the ship didn't get to do much other than sit there in the atmosphere.

Much like the 22nd century Klingon BoP, there's some neat "suspension bridge"-style cabling, helping to make this ship look a bit more primitive than the best-known Klingon ships. I didn't notice until I saw a review where they were compared, but the nacelles are sort of similar to the 22nd century Romulan BoP, which is all the more interesting, considering it would be well over a century before these two powers started sharing technology (perhaps the work of Romulan spies, like the one working on Vulcan in "Kir'Shara"?)

The magazine entries are kind of interesting, especially the one on writing "Sleeping Dogs". I didn't know that the story was inspired by the Kursk incident. There's also a paragraph where Fred Dekker, the episode writer, says he had a problem with the show exploring familiar races and wanting to see "new" aliens. I also found myself wanting to shake him and say "Dude, that was the whole POINT of this show! Meeting these familiar aliens FOR THE FIRST TIME!" This is even more curious, considering he co-wrote "The Andorian Incident", so he clearly knew HOW to reintroduce familiar aliens well.

Not sure which ship I'll look out for next, but I'll probably wait at least until next payday to get another one (plus figure out where to put it, since I'm kinda running out of space, but that's another story), so I'll have some time to think about it.

Picked up the Hirogen Hunter earlier this afternoon (it's out today in the UK) Quite good, probably won't be in my all time top 10 but I always liked that Hirogen arc in Voyager s4 so it's nice have. Cool detailing on it. It's actually the first alien Delta Quadrant ship I've got too so it'll look nice next to Voyager.

The TOS Enterprise was out two weeks ago too, I had a quick look in WHSmith while I was in town that day but as I knew it would they'd all sold out. I'll live without it, but I'll just have to see if it ever comes in stock on the official site so I can one day get it. No point trying ebay as everyone will be charging extortionate prices for it.

ps. speaking of Voyager s4, one of my all-time favourite Trek episode/s is actually Year of Hell, yet I don't own the Krenim Temporal Weapon Ship. In all the pics I've seen of it it just looks a bit too thin (necessary I know because of it's length)
Can I ask anyone who has one what they think of it? Is it worth getting do you think?

I can't speak extensively on the accuracy (I haven't compared the model to screencaps, but it does look good to me), but I'd say it's one of my favorite models so far. I'm not a big Voyager buff, but the model is rather unique and a nice change from the typical starship design.

Entertainment Earth has the TOS Enterprise up for pre-order. Which I did. Its one of the few ships I'm interested in owning.

I managed to pick up a TOS Enterprise a couple of weeks ago from my local WHSmith and here it is.

And here it is with the rest of my collection. My DS9, NuPrise and Vengeance are on a different shelf.

Nice shots. They remind me of that publicity photo of Shatner holding the Enterprise model.

Ah, look at em all there. Looking really nice. I hope you're not one of those people who only goes for the Starfleet ships, though, since there's some really nice alien ones out there. I really like my Romulan drone, the Jem'Hadar battle cruiser, the Andorian ship, the 22nd century Klingon Bop, and the Klingon Raptor.

I have the same two Minions you have on your top shelf. :techman:

I just got my niece 3 of the minions, the little ones thats a suprise until you open the packet (got to admit they are funny)

Heres my collection, got all of them except recent specials, running out of space. Got the DS9 & JJ Enterprise Special on a seperate shelf. (and at the top shelf is X-Wing Minatures)
