Living in Germany, we're only up to issue number 12, but most of the models thus far have been really good.
My favorite would have to be the NX-01, which is just perfect. The metallic aztecing, the gold/bronze elements, all the tiny markings and just the weight of it. The biggest surprise for me personally, however, was the Jem'Hadar battlecruiser, which is a design I never really noticed in the show itself. It's really interesting to look at and all the tiny window prints give a nice feel for its size.
Minor disappointments, though, were the Defiant, Voyager and Reliant. They are not bad per se, but with the quality of the NX-01 and E-D I was expecting more. There's something about the gridlines of these ships that just feels wrong. They somehow seem too wide and "round" for me. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Gridlines on the NX-01 are hard-edged and flawless, but on Voyager they make the model look ... cheap.
But still, an awesome series! Originally I was only going to buy two or three models, but of the 12 issues thus far I have bought all but four. I guess I'm hooked.
Plus, it's huge fun to photograph these models!
