Star Trek: Renegades

He says it's delayed again BUT this was recorded a month ago, since then we have a confirmed script lock.

To Our Supporters and Loyal Fans:

We are excited to officially announce that The Requiem will start shooting June 25th and we will wrap production on August 10th. With the shooting dates set and a locked script, we are now in active pre-production. As everything is coming together, we wanted to take this time to share with you some of our latest updates and what we have planned for Renegades.

As you know, our Kickstarter campaign only raised enough to meet our first goal of shooting episode 2 – not episode 3, and not post production. But, over the last few months, we've been diligently rewriting our script and stretching your donations in order to dramatically bring down the production costs so that we can film BOTH episodes – which we are now referring to as parts one and two of The Requiem. Here is what our director, Tim Russ and star Walter Koenig have to say about our script:

"The most recent draft of "STR -Requiem" knocked me out. Yup, it had me in tears. Congratulations!"
–Walter Koenig.

“We've developed an exciting, emotional & surprising sequel to the Renegades pilot!"
–Tim Russ

We'd also like to take this opportunity to make an announcement about the future of Renegades. Originally, Star Trek: Renegades was created with the hopes that CBS might consider it for a new web series, or perhaps as a flagship series for an on-demand channel. When CBS announced that they were in fact pursuing that strategy with their own in-house production, we decided it was time to conclude our series. That being said, this two-part episode of Renegades will be the last production of the series. This will be especially historic, as it will be Walter Koenig’s final performance as the beloved Chekov and we are excited and honored to give you the final leg of his journey.

We are very much looking forward to bringing back Chekov, Uhura, Tuvok and so many other beloved Star Trek characters for one more exciting adventure! We hope you are too.

We leave you with this sneak peek image of things to come.

Thank you,
The STR Team

The great thing is being a two parter the story will have more room to breathe, especially with all the returning veterans! Also now it explains the delay - condensing a two part idea into a single episode then writing it back into a two parter with the revised budget.

I wonder if there be another fundraiser or they will produce on the monies they have ? The latter would be far better as even with an IndieGoGo CBS could pull the plug

I like those. They're kind of a mash-up of the TOS movie, TNG, and TNG movie/late DS9 uniforms.

These are the new Star Fleet uniforms that will be in 'The Requiem'. Uniforms designed by Michael Philpot. Yes, there is a blue uniform as well ;) and new admiral uniforms & more to be revealed soon.

Big improvement, a lovely throwback to TNG with the TOs movie rank strip. And yes they remoind me of the turtleneck uniforms worn mainly in Voyager/DS9 1-4.

Big thumbs up from me!!

Well they're a lot better than the previous ones, though a lot will depend on how well they're constructed and fitted. I still don't get the obsession with the shoulder strap but whatever floats your boat. :)

What do people make of the pilot uniforms?

I thought they looked better in the film than on setpics, they were more a TOS throwback.

I didn't really care for the previous design at all, and I thought the construction and fitting did them no favours. Too much mishmash, not enough style and forethought.

This is an improvement, but it still doesn't hit that design sweet spot for me. I'm sure others' mileage will vary though. :)

Renegades officially starts filming today. Today we will have Walter Koenig and Nichelle Nichols film there scenes together. Cirroc Lofton and Tim Russ will also be filming some scenes with them also.

Why not? Advanced medical breakthroughs, plus McCoy lived that long, and they are both younger....

I don't have an in-universe problem with this at all. It has been demonstrated multiple times in canon and multiple TNG era series that given the correct logistical support and resources, Federation medical technology can keep people alive and practically at whatever age desired for an indefinite period of time.

At this time, I have no reason to doubt Uhura could one day serve aboard the Enterprise-J (which looks like shit).

It was always Gene's intention with TNG to set the timeframe far enough ahead so that the focus would no longer be on the TOS crew, even if a few of them might still technically be alive due to medical advances. I think if this is the direction they wanted to go they should have set Renegades at an earlier timeframe. It strains credulity. If Starfleet wanted to keep a lot of centenarians in active service we'd have seen more of them in the official shows besides just McCoy's cameo in TNG. It's just too "convenient" in a fanservicey sort of way to have two TOS veterans still kicking around in a post-Nemesis era.

Uhura is going to live to 150+ in the Renegades-verse too?

Adds weight to my theory, this all takes part in a federation rest home and a lot of the action are the delusions of Chekov and others. That is why his grand-daughter is able to just come and go as she pleases - she is visiting him.

I've reached out to Renegades on their thoughts, but they have yet to reply.

Yesterday they were filming with WALTER KOENIG, NICHELLE NICHOLS, TIM RUSS and CIRROC LOFTON, all four reprising the Star Trek roles they played on television. The table read is meant to be today wiht a shoot beginning on Saturday for a full two part story with several Trek veterans. They have sets built in the studio and the uniforms look 100x better than the pilot, giving a TNG vibe.

I hope they somehow carry on
