Star Trek: Renegades

Thanks! Still another day to go to get it beyond that! We also have another major casting announcement that will please many, coming soon.

Congratulations on reaching your goal. I am also glad to hear that Nichelle Nichols has joined the cast. Really looking forward to this.

With all of these big star's and character's joining the cast I am worried that the second and third episodes will be doomed to not be able to overcome the first episodes short comings. I fear that the episodes will be 'Look at me its me from that one series you used to watch' and the overall story will be drowned out by having 20 plus characters in it all wanting screen time....

Nichelle's role is small.

I suggested this on Facebook a month or two ago - a farewell scene with Chekov? I wonder if Uhura has survived past the Dominion War or she is jsut a hologram/flashback?

But it's another great addition to the cast - this is going to be a fantastic ride!

Not to be glib, but how does this work storywise? Is there a Starbase manned with only people who look like actors from a sci-fi franchise from 400 years ago in-universe?

Melinda Snodgrass just made the following post on FB:

I'm just back from having lunch with Walter Koenig! Yes, Chekov. Yes, I'm jazzed. Amazing man -- so smart and he has such a great sense of story and subtext. He asked insightful probing questions and we've made a few changes to the wrap up episode.

Yes, I have decided to write the final episode of Renegades. Nichelle is also planning to be part. A chance to write for both of them -- yeah, that was a no brainer. I have now met Nimoy, Shatner, Walter. If I could meet George Takei I would be a very happy human.

Certainly a lot to dissect there, that's for sure.

It's a pity Takei is busy on Broadway so won't be Admiral Sulu again but the story is an immensely personal project he's been working on for years.

We do have Lt Cmdr Sulu back in Yorktown (which is being completed by the anniversary) as a forgotten chapter in his life however (filmed 1986, set between the series and films)

It mirrors 2006; Walter and Koenig did OGAM with George in New Voyages!

Oh, it's Melinda Snodgrass! I missed that! I feel much better about everything if she's writing. Her hitting percentage on TNG was .800, which is better than anyone else I can think of.

FWIW, I spoke to Mr. Koenig about Renegades yesterday while recording Excelsior, and he wouldn't leak a single detail to us, but he did make it clear that he, too, is genuinely excited for the story for Renegades 2. That ain't just hype; he's psyched. I'm looking forward to seeing how Renegades brings Chekov's story to a close!

Humph. Wasn't she concerned about upsetting the CBS powers that be in regard to the new 2017 production? (Her bein' a former lawyer an' all)

So, she -

1) Checked and the pro TV production people are still ok with the Fan stuff-

and/or

2) She checked and they're not interested in working with her in particular (freeing her for Renegades without conflict of interest)

and/or

3) She was being coy while waiting for the Kickstarter outcome.
