Star Trek: Renegades - an almost Voyager movie?

Eh, when you're building costumes, building sets, props, models and so forth 300k goes quick, I would imagine. I still want pockets in the future too. ;)

True, but when you compare that to the work that other fan productions have done without raising that kind of coin...well, it doesn't look like $300,000 bought them much in terms of production design or costuming.

If you have to get actors together that do not live in the same neighborhood so they can all stop by your garage to film stuff, you have to pay for plane tickets, hotel rooms, etc... If you don't have your grandma bake you cookies, you have to pay for catering, etc...

Well they are typical fanfilm uniforms. Cheap cloth and not well-tailored. So they are either way too large or way too small. Usually too large.

I hope that bridge set is lit better during shooting than it is in that snapshot. At least it's not a chromakey fake set.

It may look a lot better if it's filmed well. When the very first spy video of Spock fighting Khan in Into Darkness leaked, I thought Cumberbatch looked like a 12 year old with that haircut - but in the actual movie he never dipped below BAMF.

Ah perspective!

The main thing that irks me in fanfilms is the slowness of dialog pace. There is just too much space between one person speaking and the next replying. Of course the same can be said about early TNG.

Some fan film actors can get pretty flat and halting on the line readings too, as if they're either reading off cue cards or trying to remember the line. Not enough rehearsal. Put one poor actor in a scene with 2 more accomplished ones, and it really becomes obvious.

Our first looks at Admiral Chekov in the new uniform:

And Tuvok, who in Renegades is running Section 31:

Pretty convincing Cardassian makeup. I do wish they had stuck with the alternate future commbadges they used in All Good Things, the Visitor and Endgame though.

Tuvok looks real unhappy. Years later and he's only a commander maybe? :p

For old pros like Walter and Tim, those costumes must be like being in high school plays again. ;)

Seriously though... Koenig's gotten even smaller over the years or that's just a big ass chair he's in.

Tuvok's smock has a bit of a Vulcan feel about it.

And looks like some drinks behind him on that counter top. I always thought any starship bridge could be improved by addition of a cocktail bar.
