I hated this movie.
As a sci-fi adventure it was ok but it was NOT Star Trek.
I hate that this is the new direction for Star Trek and really cant understand why so many so called Star Trek fans have embraced it.
What in this movie was Star Trek besides the names?
yeah yeah, alternative reality , cheap excuse to do their own thing and not have to play by the rules of continutity.
The only thing I enjoyed was Karl Urban, he did a great McCoy.

Star Trek
R.I.P
1966-2009

It's dead Jim!

I'll wait for the next reboot and hope its really Star Trek like what I was hoping for.

As far is I'm concerned, any concept broad enough to contain Balance of Terror, The City on the Edge of Forever and The Trouble with Tribbles is broad enough to contain the latest film.

You and I should share a beer sometime. We agree on this.

Not another one of these. :scream:

[rant]If you didn't like it.....IGNORE IT! But I've got news for ya. Trek is FAR from dead. As a matter of fact, it hasn't been this alive for a long time.[/rant]

Damn straight, and one of the simplest and most direct expressions of this that I've read. :techman:

You'd probably be the same person crying for something new if this was another Berman and Braga film. If it's good enough to make Leonard Nimoy cry, it's good enough for me.

This reminds me of the Onion parody, which roughly went "if i wanted to see young and attractive people doing something interested, i'd watch sports".

Gripe, gripe, gripe. The movie was entertaining and successful. That is great news for Trek. Plenty of time to write the deeply thought out sci-fi thinkpiece.
