Spoilers Star Trek: Prodigy General Discussion Thread

A better version of the Prodigy trailer is at the 28-minute mark of the panel...and the new Lower Decks trailer is at the 50-minute mark!

Here's the Prodigy teaser...

...neat. And it's coming this year, which is a surprise to me, because I was thinking next year.

Either way, I'll take it...

The bridge looks really open. I had a thought about that (as I posted over at TrekMovie):
Makes me wonder if they are going to try to replicate that bridge set-up in any future live action Trek show. Use The Volume to create a 270 degree space view which can be "turned off" when needed and just show regular panels, viewscreens, etc. Would be sweet!

Other than the ship, nothing too new is revealed in the trailer. But it is nice to see everything in motion. The visual style is interesting. It has a kind of hand-painted look while still being 3d.

The nacelle pylons also seem to have a slight gull-wing curve to them - not as severe as the USS Vengeance in STID - more like the subtle curve of the Enterprise-J's pylons.

I really kind of like this design. Eaglemoss, ENGAGE!!!

Funny how some people saw "Protostar" and some people saw "Praetorian." I'm assuming it's the former ;)
remember, this is what was available at the time:

I could see where some would think that says Praetorian, based on the sub-par resolution of the source image. I was actually just going off what the article was saying - what little of it I could understand, anyway.

www.startrek.ar. Is that Argentina?

I know what you mean. Seems a little stop-motion to me in places as well. I wonder if they set the frame rate a bit lower to get that effect?

I did play a lot of Alien games lately... XD
Yes, Argentina sometimes gets these things a few min/h before they're officially released

Not a fan of the big window and bright taillights, but looks good.

Could always do the hologram wall like the Enterprise E viewscreen. Except like the entire dome and get the same effect. Owell.

That is one colorful show. Not really sure on the plot or the characters yet, but this might be the best looking star trek of any of the new series already. That animation was gorgeous.

NX. That means experimental, right? Lots of stuff in Beta mode?

I think I'd watch this for the Tellarite. I adore Tellarites.

And to hear Kate Mulgrew as Janeway...

As soon as I heard Janeway say "... We've only just begun...",

I thought of this as the shows music theme ...
