Spoilers Star Trek Picard Season 2 Hopes and Predictions

Agree to disagree. No Borg, less Seven.

Fuck the Borg.
I get it. Q is a fan favorite. But, there has not been a story reason to have him appear.
The perfect opportunity would have been if Picard had died for real in the last episode of the series. Now that Picard's not going to die...

You never know, though, we might get a novel in this new continuity with Q in it. I'd be down with that.

What I would like to see for season 2:
- Picard's philosophical struggle with identity in this new synth body - what does it mean to be human? Is he still 100% human? Has his humanity been lessened in some way now that he's died but come back - and into a body that doesn't have the same human defects?
- Acknowledgements about what's happened in season 1, even if the story moves into new territory. At least give us a little dialogue about what's happening with the Romulans, the xBs and the Maddox/Soong Synths (now that their existence and homeworld have been revealed)
- Revisit the vineyard on earth, even if briefly, so that we can get a little more of Laris and Zhaban
- Provide larger context for the galactic state of affairs - what's going on with the Klingons, Cardassians, Vulcans, etc. Did anyone else ever step up to try and help save the Romulans? Have any alliances changed?
- Assuming that Jeri Ryan may be promoted to series regular, give us more flashbacks and back story on Seven's journey after Voyager returned from the delta quadrant
- Either give Elnor significantly more to do and figure out a path for the character, or consider dropping him - he was the weak link for me in season 1 and other than being a personal bodyguard for Picard, I didn't get much out of him
- More TNG characters, but only in an organic way. Seems like it's official that Guinan will make an appearance, but would love to see Beverly, Geordi, Worf and/or more of Riker and Troi (Marina Sirtis hit it out of the park with her performance in season 1)
- Open to the idea of DS9 and/or other VOY characters, too, but only if it makes sense to do so
- More backstory on what's happened to the Federation and some of the characters between NEM and PIC, even if it isn't fleshed out in great detail
- A simple line of dialogue to state the current Enterprise in service - the E or maybe the F now?
- From a writing standpoint, keep all of the great, character-centric moments like what we got in season 1, but also try to find away to make the actual plot a little better and less rushed. I would argue that season 1 of PIC could have easily had 1-2 more episodes to better balance the story out without having to rush through certain things.

Predictions?

Addressing the inevitable and understandable fan backlash of Picard being turned into an android. I can see fake android Picard being full of self doubt in Season 2, considering himself a fraud and becoming bitter and resentful at those around him for not letting him die naturally as a human.

I can also see the real human Picard being revealed as somehow still being alive, possibly held captive by the Romulans.

- It wouldn't surprise me if Rizzo was still alive and perhaps augmented with borg tech that keeps her alive after that fall. Or they might even cut back and forth between La Sirena and Coppelius where she has to grapple with becoming a synth herself.
I would like that.
The show needs more than 10 eps per season to properly develop the new characters.
Very much so. I think this needed another 50%, so that we understood the characters better and so that we didn't have a squadron of loose ends in the finale (e.g., Narek, Sutra, Soong.....)

What I'd hope for is just that we get a clearer picture of the state of the Alpha quadrant, the races we are familiar with already. Been 20 years since TNG and yes we've seen what happened but only to both the Feds & Romulans.

What's up with the Klingons?
Is the Borg collective still out there?
Does the Dominion still exist?
Do we have transwarp travel across quadrants?

Some clandestine group hires Picard and his crew to find out about some mysterious disappearances of colonists living in the borders of Federation space. Turns out it’s related to the mysterious robots that almost came through the portal.

What I think could happen:
-Return of Narek, Narissa, and Commodore Oh. I thought they were all solid villains.
-Return of Zhaban and Laris. Don't get why they didn't go with Picard on his mission in the first place. They would've been very useful.
-More TNG characters. It's not enough to name drop them, it would be great to have them all guest star at some point. There might be some Stargazer characters in the mix as well.
-Seeing the Enterprise. Whether it's the Enterprise-E or Enterprise-F, or even an Enterprise-G, I'm imagining it will be in the second season. I'm not sold on the idea that the Enterprise-F would be an Odyssey-class vessel, with ST: Picard not adhering to Star Trek Online. Yes, an Odyssey was in the prequel comic, years too soon, but I think that was more for the fans than the series' creators making a commitment.
-I see some other Voyager characters appearing more so than DS9 characters, especially if Seven is a regular cast member. That being said, I would like to learn more about DS9's crew. It would be great to see the O'Briens, Jake, or Quark who I think might be the easiest to fit into the story. Heck, Jake could've been the reporter in the first season.
-The Doctor would be great to have on the series. Did the ban on synthetic life also mean holograms?
-Lore. Come on, why are they so skittish about bringing this character back? I was so hoping that Alton was Lore. Lore would be a great big bad for Season 2, someone who has another personal connection.
-Section 31. They were strangely absent during the first season.
-More explanation of what's happening with the Romulans. Is the Romulan Star Empire destroyed entirely, and it's just the Free State? Either way, this is ripe for storytelling.
-What about the Klingons, Tholians, Gorn, Remans, and Kzinti? With Riker mentioning them, it's time to see them again.
-I doubt it, but I would like to see more about these synthetic life forms that are just waiting out there to destroy all organic life.

Let Narssa stay dead I don't want her to come back, Bring back Zhaban and Laris I really liked their characters.

Have the season 2 story line take inspiration from the coronavirus pandemic and make it a loose sequel to "Code Of Honor".

I would like there to be a realistic and reasonable reason they are staying together. Did they truly bond that much that they want to stay together on La Sirena? What are they going to do? Take jobs ferrying cargo? Explore? Become rangers like Seven? Is Rios still getting paid? Speculation welcome.

Good points!

I would like that, but they have to show us. II think they are trying to sell us that the crew already feel like "family". Remember when Jurati said she was sorry and she had never "had a... crew" or something like that? There was a pause that made me think they want us to think "...family" or at least "friends". Aaand... no. That would need a little more time and more character work, for me.

What are they going to do? Take jobs ferrying cargo? Explore? Become rangers like Seven? Is Rios still getting paid? Speculation welcome.
I was wondering about that, too. Rangers, I doubt. But is Picard still paying Rios, and if so, are the others mooching off him, too? Just how much money does he have?
Will the ship now be registered?
