As someone else pointed out up-thread, this is literally how the transporter works. The body is scanned, destroyed, and reconstructed out of new matter.
In fact, even with quantum teleportation (a real thing), the characteristics of the original particle are copied onto another particle, and the original is destroyed.

So far I only see theories/ speculation beyond that, which I find perfectly legitimate and interesting. Actually, speculating is half the fun.
Some of which I very much hope they're not true, but still. Then again, I don't visit those fake sites claiming they know stuff.

Speculation is fun I wish more people would realise that. To many fans especially Star Wars ones get sour and try $**t on anything that doesn't exactly match their theories
You know, I think it's unfair to single out a specific fandom for that kind of behaviour, it's a predominant trait to parts of fandoms anywhere, from Whovians to Bronies, from Pokémon Fans to Snyder Cut weirdos. Even the MCU fans who are normally chill as fuck had that moment with WandaVision, where they turned sour for a minute because their speculations did turn out wrong
You think MCU fans are normally chill? You've clearly never run across any die-hard Stucky stans! Other than that, your point is bang on. The larger a fandom, the more crazy it generates, as a general rule.
I wish I could find the video with the theory I hope won't come true. It's pretty well laid out, using many clues we have. Basically, Trek will develop into something like a Justice League, via time travel the various captains will team up in a fight of good vs. evil. (pa'wraith, prophets etc.) It would be against everything I am looking for in Trek, but it's a valid theory and I don't know why I'd be upset at them for speculating. Granted, I'll be disappointed if they go in a direction I don't like.(For the record, I don't think it will happen.)
Yeah, some groups of fans are ... challenging. I try to ignore them.
It just ocurred to me that instead of whining about other fans, I should probably more often leave thoughtful comments on YT. But I usually try to not even read the comment section...
How so? I see this all the time but I never feel the fun from it. It because trench warfare over speculation and ideas, rather than imagining possibility. I have found speculation to be difficult to find the fun in.
I've been speculating about new Trek releases since STIII! I've enjoyed it every time. The lead up to TUC was one of the most fun. Based on TV spots and footage shown on ET, I had twisted myself into the possibility that McCoy kills Kirk to ensure peace between the Feds and Klingons (the notion that Kirk would be killed was a mainstay in speculation at that point, because of the finality of the movie).
That's what I was trying to say. It's the fighting and bitterness that is the problem.
I have been guessing and speculating for years on new movies and seasons and it's great when done detached from the toxic online communities
They are just the one I have seen the most of in that sense. As I said many fans but that group seem to be the worst although Who was definitely up there after the woman Doctor.

Yeah, I haven't had a good time speculating online. In person clubs are fine.

I do know that but did you know it is a common term like Berman Trek and even this site categorises the newer Treks in a CBS section
The show established a long time ago that this is not true. They are conscious during transport. So not a copy. Even if they were not conscious they are not copies. I know what episode people think that this is true but it's not. People continue to interpret this wrong. They are reassembled. They are the original matter....

It's a scanned image. A copy. Picard is gone. I'm sure the writers will find some way to retcon it though. Through some dumb throwaway line.
But for now he is dead. All that was original picard is gone. Except for the copy of his consciousness. Which is not original. So he died. Hes basically what b4 was. An android with a copy of Data memories.
