Even if it's not by Jerry Goldsmith - as Goldsmith is already dead - it is close to his style of Trek music.
And it makes you listen to it rather than skipping the intro....
Well it's like the difference between the intro to Enterprise and Voyager and to Picard..
The Picard theme is very calming, it's flowing..
Voyager was entirely too optimistic given the situation they were in and Enterprise was very ...YEAH WE ARE AWESOME
check out goldsmith's score for the swarm:The Voyager theme was interchangeable with the Air Force One theme. Both by Goldsmith. You can here a certain patriotism in it.... Enterprise theme was a cover song - not a bad song but not Trek either.
Wasn't it originally supposed to be the music that ended up being used for the end credits? What's funny is the Enterprise theme wasn't even supposed to be Faith of the Heart..
it was supposed to be another song that I can't remember right this second.
I remember seeing that movie at the time and thinking afterward that the music was the only good part.check out goldsmith's score for the swarm:
I'd heard that also, it is called Archer's Theme.Wasn't it originally supposed to be the music that ended up being used for the end credits?
Anyway, I really like STPic's opening music. It's much better than Disco's.

Goldsmith reused portions of his score for The Wind and the Lion in TMP and even in TFF. It's kinda par for the course for a lot of the classic Hollywood composers - a lot of Miklos Rosza scores are interchangable, and most of Malcolm Arnold's scores sound the same from film to film.check out goldsmith's score for the swarm:
