i've been listening to the chapter 1 soundtrack all day. it's got a ton of little statements of goldsmith's TMP/TNG theme which are fun, but i'm appreciating how russo wrote a lot of his own original themes around that same theme. the end credits are based on the first couple notes of goldsmith's fanfare, very subtle, i like it.

I think it's fantastic. It's not overtly Star Trek, but that fits well because this is the story of Picard after Starfleet. It's a more somber adventure rather than a triumphant charge into the unknown

Even if it's not by Jerry Goldsmith - as Goldsmith is already dead - it is close to his style of Trek music.

And it makes you listen to it rather than skipping the intro....

Well it's like the difference between the intro to Enterprise and Voyager and to Picard..

The Picard theme is very calming, it's flowing..

Voyager was entirely too optimistic given the situation they were in and Enterprise was very ...YEAH WE ARE AWESOME

The Voyager theme was interchangeable with the Air Force One theme. Both by Goldsmith. You can here a certain patriotism in it.... Enterprise theme was a cover song - not a bad song but not Trek either.

What's funny is the Enterprise theme wasn't even supposed to be Faith of the Heart..

it was supposed to be another song that I can't remember right this second.

It's Batai's music in the background in Inner Light

Wasn't it originally supposed to be the music that ended up being used for the end credits?

Anyway, I really like STPic's opening music. It's much better than Disco's.

It's growing on me to the point where I think this is the best theme song and title sequence since Voyager. I really like the melody and the visuals.

I like Voyager's and DS9's most, probably in that order. Picard's is making a strong play for third place, however.

I remember seeing that movie at the time and thinking afterward that the music was the only good part.
It was one of Irwin Allens more far fetched movies.
Though at the time "Killer Bees" was a thing.

I'd heard that also, it is called Archer's Theme.

I haven't liked the Picard theme since I first heard it for the same reason I can't stand the Discovery theme - it's sonic wallpaper, lacking a distinct and/or hummable theme. It reminds me more of background score to a scene rather than the main title theme, like the scores to the Berman era of Trek after he watered it down and gave Ron Jones the pink slip. The only memorable part of both Disco's and Picard's themes are, unsurprisingly, the quotes from Alexander Courage's and Jerry Goldsmith's themes.

Goldsmith reused portions of his score for The Wind and the Lion in TMP and even in TFF. It's kinda par for the course for a lot of the classic Hollywood composers - a lot of Miklos Rosza scores are interchangable, and most of Malcolm Arnold's scores sound the same from film to film.
