Spoilers Star Trek: Picard General Discussion Thread

Yeah, the timescales were completely out of whack. The main issue was each set of writers wanting to tell their own story without bothering to worry about what others had already done.

So we got two Borg Queens back to back, two Data resurrections, Riker and Troi having contrived marriage difficulties after clearly being fine, then forgetting about their daughter, wildly veering character arcs for Seven, Raffi, Rios etc.

Guess we're lucky that Laris was even mentioned in Season 3.

That's why it's so hard to regard Picard as a three-season series when it's more like three separate shows that barely fit together. Well, I guess season 1 and 2 fit together somewhat decently, but season 3 certainly tries to distance itself from the others with impunity.

Still sometimes wonder if Season 3 was meant to be set in 2411, and Frontier Day was supposed to be the 250th anniversary of the Federation, not the weird “250 years since the NX-01 launch that we’ll just say was the metaphorical birth of modern Starfleet”. At least Seven’s Starfleet career and Jack’s visible age would have worked out better.

And we know that there were various changes made during production: I’m sure Riker’s “it’s the new refit, Neo-Constitution class” is an ADR change, and even right up at the end the reveal of the USS Picard was changed to the Enterprise-G (again with obvious ADR, and Jack’s onscreen “names mean almost everything” after talking about the family name just a few seconds earlier works much better with the ship being called Picard.

Would still love to know what the original plan was for Season 2. One of the only clues seems to be Chabon’s story credit on episode 2.

Even the props and graphics get little details wrong though elaborately created and lavishly thrown on screen. The TOS Defiant library computer record on Archer says he commanded the NX-01 until 2160, when just a few short episodes later we know that's actually 2161.

Dialogue overrides props. Rios said in season 2 he's from the year 2400.
Then, going by the dialogue that Zhaban was dead for "about a year and a half" after Picard was 94 (which he was on July 13, 2399), that would still put S2 at the tail end of 2400 and not make much difference at all.

That's fine. Harvest season in French wine country would be around September-ish anyway. It is a bit weird but maybe Zhaban had some kind of accident (surely not set up by Picard to get him out of the way :shifty:)

Did I mention my theory that 'Federation Credits' are a system of social credit that give people access to rare, unreplicatable things such as Chateau Picard? ;)
Picard: We work to better ourselves.

Lily: Fitcoin? Seriously?

Picard: Yes, you don't even want to know how many fitcoins all my work, along with archaeology study and bat'leth practice with Worf, mined.

Galen's ghost: And here I thought you actually liked archaeology. You were just overworking your brain to mine fitcoins!

Picard: Professor Galen's ghost, how are you here? This is a 21st century conversation, you haven't died yet, in fact you haven't even been born yet! Oh and by the way, chasing Romulan conspiracy theories while drinking and smoking doesn't count as fitcoin mining, all it does is get you your Federation guaranteed trailer home and basic replicator.

which explains seasons 1 and 2, but not seasons 2 and 3 because it was the same Showrunner and some of the same writers.

What happened to Narek at the end of S1? Last I noticed him he was yelling at Soji that she didn’t have to do it. Did I miss something?
