Spoilers Star Trek: Picard General Discussion Thread

It's invasive (she may blame her parent's recklessness for the family's being assimilated).

The audience is supposed to take pity on Shaw having HIS issues with the Borg while at the same time telling Seven to get over hers?

I never said anything about Shaw's issues, even though I find the writing about this both questionable and unoriginal.

What are Seven's reasons for clinging to her Borg name after so many years? Did the series explain this? And she preferred the nature of how the Borg had renamed her?

No. I think it's about her connection to the Voyager crew...yanno where she was "reborn" as she said in Bounty. She insisted on being called Seven in the beginning, and it became of who she was on Voyager and so on.

And how the hell would being called one's birth name "original"?

Because she's not that little girl anymore. That name means nothing to her. 90% of her life she's been Seven of Nine.

Though interesting, in Season 1 Bjayzl called her Annika as well.

Seven has tried at different times to go by Annika as a means of reclaiming her humanity. She did that in Unimatrix Zero for example.

she went back to being 7 after Ichebs torture and death

Yeah, in fact I think she says in that episode that having let her guard down with her and going by Annika at the time is the reason it's too painful to use it now.

Seven is on the command track because her experience makes her suitable for it. Seven could probably teach at the academy.

I guess people are forgetting the Borg assimilated Captains and other officers in Starfleet, and as a Borg Drone Seven would have had access to all that knowledge. So from that alone, it makes it fairly pointless to send Seven to Starfleet academy. Plus her experiences on Voyager were pretty much a crash course in how Starfleet operates, under the close supervision of Janeway.

What are you talking about?

Right. She went there when they didn't know who they were as Drones, therefore the little girl who first starting going there would have introduced herself as Annika. Really?

Apparently there is going to be post credit scene in The Last Generation.

It would be great for the post credit scene to be Guinan at the 10 Forward bar, looking at the camera - "What will you have now?"

Apparently the post credits scene is Archer and Tpal saying "computer end program" and walking out of the holodeck
I actually love that idea because only Archer would think that anyone would care enough about his adventures on the NX-01 that they would dedicate a holiday to his adventures. He probably programmed a scene recreating the moment where he declared how much he wanted to knock T'Pol on her a#% as the point where humanity's greatness truly began. This idea is so bad and offensive it might actually work!

So at the end of ep9 and in the clip for ep10, Picard ordered the Enterprise to go maximum warp, but didn’t he said in ep1 that older ships required a shout out to Engineering before they can do that? Then Seven corrected him right after by saying the newer ships are fully automated and no shoutouts required? So suddenly the E-D is fully automated like the new ships?
