Spoilers Star Trek: Picard General Discussion Thread

I love how careless he is about spoilers, God bless him. Because Levar also spoiled this back in August:
We spent three days on a bridge that they built that was a replica of the Enterprise that we had during the series because we moved on from that ship soon as we got into the features. When Marina crashed it [Star Trek: Generations] it was all over. So we got to get a new ship and we did, we got a succession of them. We went back to our bridge. It wasn’t exactly–the ramp was a little steep, but the feeling that it invoked in us, that sense of coming home was real. So we spent three days on this bridge and it was magical. It was like being in a time machine. We were transported back to the late ‘80s and the ‘90s. It was magical, it really was.

In general, weren’t the Maquis all but wiped out? Makes appearances by Ro or Tom Riker not impossible but certainly questionable.

The Maquis in the DMZ were hunted down by the Jem'Hadar, but any Maquis *not* in the DMZ at that point could easily have survived. All you have to do is say they somehow managed to get themselves arrested by Starfleet before the Dominion takeover of Cardassia.

"Now, Geordi, don't be averse to having Free Museum Days for the kids."

"Admiral, this is the Federation and it's a Starfleet installation. We don't use forms of money."

"Oh, really, Commodore? Did our missions together teach you nothing..."

I wonder if that big weapon thing that destroyed the Starfleet base, will find its way to Chaltok IV by the end of the season, where a certain Romulan has just moved to...

so the "warp tunnel" thing seemed very familiar.
Just remembered from where...

Anyway any chance for a Picard season 3 spoiler TL;DR so I don't have to go trough the 429 pages?

I thought it was established the only Maquis survivors were the ones who were already in Federation prison and the ones on Voyager?

That's what I'm saying. All you have to do is say they were in prison at that point. Nothing ever told us they weren't. They could have easily been arrested off screen at some point.

Although, to be entirely accurate I don't think it was ever 100% explicitly stated that not a single Maquis made it out of the DMZ alive, either, but the prison story is much easier to sell regardless given the massive casualties they had to suffer there.

The end credits show a Holodeck program for Ten Forward, so either The View put a lot of work into their set for that interview, or maybe we're going to see more of the Ent-D than just the bridge!

I assumed the set used on The View was the one originally created for the first scene in the first episode of season 1. Not to say that it won't be reused this season though.

Do you think we’re getting the saucer with La Sirena in the bottom powering it along?!

That would be hilarious. And amusing if it was because of something weird like hull materials having changed in the intervening years, like how steel for sunk ww2 ships is sought after because it was smelted before the rise in background radiation of the planet after other events in ww2.

So what year do we think this is taking place?

2402/3? Terry Matalas said on Twitter that "slightly over a year" will have passed since season 2, which was set in 2401. Even though this is word of God it doesn't really jive with the other info. The Frontier Day posters say it's supposed to celebrate the 250th anniversary of Starfleet and 2152/3 doesn't fit. Also hard to believe Seven would advance quite that quickly through the ranks, prior experience or not.

2407? The Instagram Logs state that the Titan-A was launched in 2402 and during "Next Generation" Shaw claims to have been in command for 5 years. This date could work with Frontier Day if we assume that the Coalition of Planets meeting we saw in Terra Prime was just the start of negotiations and that a joint Starfleet was founded in 2157. As Travis says near the end of that episode: It's a first step. The Captain says it's going to take years to work out the details

2411? This is the date MA went with by assuming the foundation of Starfleet aligns with the foundation of the Federation in 2161.

When Raffi is scanning transmissions looking for the Red Lady, one comes up (top right) showing the Ent-F with the headline "Enterprise-F Slated for Early Decommission". I guess 25 years is early, considering these ships should last 100.

Crikey they're going through the alphabet fast!

Of course they had to get it up to G for Frontier Day--G for Gene Roddenberry! Talk about metaphasic shielding! ;)

So they've got two letters to go and then it's J time following them! Does anyone want to estimate how long each ship lasts? Which one(s) make(s) the century mark?

(And yes, I consider the Enterprise-J canon. Just not necessarily that Enterprise-J.)

Noticed that so far nobody in production has answered any questions about what year it is. Wonder if either they’ve messed up with a bunch of time markers that don’t make sense and now realise and don’t want to say, or if there’s still an explanation to come later in the season.

I wouldn’t be surprised if we got a log entry with a stardate at some point given the other callbacks so far.
