Spoilers Star Trek: Picard General Discussion Thread

And, true, but did ENT split the fanbase in half? Many people saw it as mediocre, but it didn't receive as much hostility as DISCOVERY has.
I remember back in early 2003. The first rumors leaked that Enterprise was going to be doing an episode with the Borg in it. One particular person posted on the Enterprise forum of this very site that the news enraged him so much he destroyed his own TV with a brick. Last I checked, no one has posted about destroying their TVs, computers, or anything with bricks because of what Disco has done. So tell me again how Disco is getting more hostility than Enterprise? During its run, Enterprise was hated by the fandom.

So don't kid yourself that Trek couldn't air on a network broadcast fully if they so wished.
When CBS broadcast season 1 of DISCOVERY, did they leave the f-bombs intact? I haven't cleared off my TiVo so it has a few CBS aired episodes... if I check "Into the Forest I Go" (or whatever episode originally had it...) will I find the L'Rell scene fully intact? Especially after the Janet Jackson Super Bowl thing that saw CBS fined? If they aired STP season 1, would they edit the Icheb eyeball scene?

Anyways, aside from the cursing, season 3 is supposed to be free of graphic violence or other guardrail jumps...

I was around for ENT, albeit lurking. I would still say DISCOVERY and STP season 1 are more divisive in the fandom, but, in that specific case, I can't reference someone destroying their TV over them.

There was only one ‘Fuck’ in Discovery, not multiple. I don’t believe there has been one since.

edit: oh wait I forgot Stamets repeated it after her. Either way I’m pretty sure those were the only two.

There's going to be all kinds of hatred in the thread for "The Next Generation" (PIC) too. This is the most I've ever looked forward to a Star Trek episode, but this episode shall not be exempt. But I'm putting my feet up on this occasion. Wherever you stand, you're all going to be in for one Hell of a ride. The mods should really be paid.

Graphic violence?

Seriously? I've been told my whole life in fan circles that Star Wars is for kids, Star Trek is fir adults. Now I see adults wanting a sanitized product. Never mind the nightmare fuel of TMP, TWOK, or the violence across the franchise.

I don’t know how US regulators work, but if it’s like Canada they’d be allowed to say fuck and show the L’Rell scene after a certain hour of the day.

There’s a lot of Trek I’m disappointed in. That doesn’t matter if it’s Trek run by Roddenberry, Bennett, Berman, Abrams or Kurtzman. But I pay about $100 a year for my annual P+ ad free subscription. I make, well, a lot more than $100 a year. I’ve gotten a lot of entertainment out of that $100, whether it be Trek or something else distributed by P+. At the end of the day, even if it’s not great, I find some enjoyment out of it. That’s a win in my books.

Same. As much as I love most Trek. Much of TOS, TNG, VOY, ENT, and even DS9 isn't exactly prestige TV. There are a lot of really good episodes, especially in the first 3 live action series, but a lot of mediocre and bad ones as well.

I hope this season really is the undiscovered country for the TNG characters, they deserved a proper send-off and give the 24th century era of heroes a proper send-off. I would love that if this season is well received, we'll get a proper 25th century series and a new era of Heroes and villains.

I wouldn't be surprised if Robert Picardo appears as the EMH somewhere during this season. A couple of years ago he said he was asked and then back tracked on that comment.

I think the enemy for picard season three are the creatures from the first season episode conspiracy. From the way beverly had to kill the intruders most likely because of their enhanced strength to the look of the crab like ship. That's my vote anyway. I could be wrong but it would be cool if that's what this season is about. I was always intrigued to see what would happen with that homing beacon. Lol

I saw a lot of this idea online, but it doesn't jibe with what we've been told, unless it's a misdirection.

Would I like it!? Sure!
