Spoilers Star Trek: Picard General Discussion Thread

I'm watching That '90s Show right now. I just paused it. It's basically That '70s Show, except with new kids and set in the '90s, and all the legacy characters haven't skipped a beat.

What does this have to do with Picard? PIC is my third favorite Star Trek series, behind TOS and DSC, yet somehow I get the feeling that a lot of people wanted Picard to do what That '90s Show has done. Picard in command of the Enterprise-F with a new crew filling the old roles, and basically looking and feeling the way it did when Star Trek was transitioning from Gene Roddenberry to Rick Berman. What they want is what they couldn't get because Patrick Stewart wasn't interested in doing that.

I like both That '90s Show and Picard, but it's interesting to see how they show two different ways of following up on their respective previous series.

EDITED TO ADD: By the way, one reason -- probably the main reason -- I've posted here for close to 25 years (minus a 10-year break from 2007 to 2017) is because I use this board to channel my Trekkie-ness. IRL, I don't want to sound the same way about Star Trek that Eric Foreman does about Star Wars.

Yeah, it's supposed to be "TNG's Star Trek VI". That doesn't sound like TNG Season 8 to me anymore than TUC (or the TOS Movies in general) would've been TOS Season 5. "Season 5?," someone might ask. I think of TAS as essentially TOS Season 4...

It's sounds like a combination TUC mashed together with a Marvel-style one-season series (hopefully) installing Seven as Captain of the Titan-A (much as The Falcon and The Winter Soldier introduced Sam Wilson as the new Captain America).

Picard is not an android. He's not machine. He is biological as he was before. But new body. I only don't know what does it mean that he is positronic now. He obviously don't have positronic machine brain as Data had. He has organic brain.

I don't follow American football at all, but I think there is a huge event on Sunday Jan 29 and that is what he's referring to. Superbowl ads costs something like $1 million per minute & it's too close to the premiere to put out a trailer. So I think the 29th is when we're going to get it.

I really hope CBS starts promoting the heck out of these season soon because it seems shockingly quiet given we're less than a month away.

There is a playoff game on CBS on the 22nd, but it doesn't seem like anyone is expecting the trailer during this Sunday's game. It's earlier in the afternoon while the game on the 29th starts at 630 eastern, so they may be going for a primetime release of the trailer
