Spoilers Star Trek: Picard General Discussion Thread

I feel kinda vindicated now because people used to dismiss me when I talked about how unusually rattled Jean-Luc is when he imagines his mother in that corridor. Call it instinct of some kind.

And this isn’t the only JLP scene where I always felt there was more to it. I’m kinda pleased now that this will probably give quite a few people an incentive to maybe look at Jean-Luc the way I do - as a guy who is more than just a seemingly stoic and stern starship captain, and also a guy who is hiding a LOT of emotional pain behind that captain’s mask.

I can only say that those who write in all that new stuff about Jean-Luc as a character do know what they’re doing. I may not agree with all their creative choices (such as seemingly ignoring “Inner Light”) but they definitely get the basics right.

Have they announced when season 3 will premiere? It was a full 2 years between season 1 and 2.

That's because there was (nearly) 2 full years between shooting season one and two. Three got shot back-to-back with two and is already completely filmed so it shouldn't take nearly as long. I wouldn't bet on this fall but I also wouldn't be that surprised.

Yes I realize they were shot concurrently but they could also want to stretch out the new content. Like how long has netflix had season 4 of Stranger Things ready to go and they keep sitting on it?

Well filming for ST4 wrapped in September 2021, so 8 months between wrapping and release. But you have to consider post production and all that.

For comparison, Picard Season 2 also wrapped in September 2021 and aired almost exactly 6 months later.
Picard Season 3 wrapped March 8.

I hope they shoot an additional scene with Wil Wheaton…. The guy deserves it…..!

Didn't he say he would be happy to return... but only if he doesn't have to play Wesley Crusher again? (I can't blame him. It must have been awful for him back in the day, what with the hate his character got, and him only being a teenager.)
