Spoilers Star Trek: Picard General Discussion Thread

A nice little article on the Picard/Q aspect of season 2: https://www.polygon.com/platform/amp/22951315/picard-season-2-q-love
“What’s interesting is that the emergence of [the Seven Raffi relationship] was really their idea. The two actors, both of them, came up to me and Michael Chabon at a party, and they put their arms around each other,” showrunner Akiva Golsman says. “And they said, ‘This is next season.’”

I thought I loved them too much already but now I can't even react coherently. I hope Raffi/Seven persists beyond Picard.

Michelle Hurd and Jeri Ryan mention it, and Akiva Goldsman as well, in this interview, and Ryan credits a photo taken by Jonathan Del Arco/Hugh as the inspiration for the idea.

Also, semi-related, ‪‪there’s an interview about Season 1 where Ryan mentions that Del Arco helped her get her version of Seven in Picard down with a conversation about how ex-Borgs would grow and change over time, and begin to alter their affect to fit in with others. And she mentioned that she and Jonathan are old, close friends, and the fact that the two original/most important ex-Borgs are friends makes me smile.

Yeah, streaming Paramount Star Trek day is always Thursday.

It’s only for these first 3 weeks, with Picard S02 and the last Discovery episodes of S04, and then 1 week for the finale of Picard S02 and the premiere of Strange New Worlds. It’s not often anyone will have to decide between which series to watch first.

They're streaming shows, so they can watch it whenever they want.

Exactly! ‪‪I just meant they’re always released in the US on Thursdays, which is the reason for the overlaps, but there’s no reason to worry about when to watch/no competing against themselves.

I just think it's strange given the intensity of the streaming wars where they're counting viewers etc. that they'd put themselves in a position where they're competing with literally themselves and thus throwing off those numbers. Admittedly that already happened to a smaller extent with Prodigy I think.

You can set your Betamax to tape one show while you watch the other. Then, you can watch the video-taped one later. It's a miracle of technology....

Michelle Hurd is married to a "Garrett".. there's hope for me after all

Or you know people will just watch one after the other?? Seriously, what are you even complaining about here?

I looked at as going with two potential options:
  1. Start with whichever series and/or season started first
  2. Start with whichever series comes first alphabetically
In both the cases, the overlap of Discovery and Picard, and of Picard and Strange New Worlds, are the same whichever of those options ‪‪I chose, so I’m going with that.

DSC then PIC for the next three weeks, and PIC then SNW for its one week overlap.

I'm rewatching Picard Season 1 before Season 2, and I've seen so little of Discovery Season 4 that I may start binging that before I watch anything from Picard Season 2 also.

Mainly I just like to wait till a whole season is out and binge it at my leisure. This place is pretty well sectioned off with different sub-forums and I don't read reviews so spoilers are pretty easy to avoid.

I just like Star Trek. Whichever order I inject it is a matter of personal whim rather than logic. :D
