Well, what do you know! I guess my NDA can end. Been sitting on these secrets since... I dunno, many, many months. Therin is actually seen here twice. The top pic is in his captain guise, complete with USS Hood custom insignia and belt buckle, with Grol the Tellarite (who is actually also me, in my very first effort at Photoshop way back in the late 90s, combining two cosplay pics taken several years apart).

Insignia designed by me in 1980 and adapted to fit the 1982 movie changes. (I had looked at designs featured in the "Star Trek Concordance" and noted that there had never been a seven-sided insignia.) The above representation of the pin was rendered by my friend Benjamin Angus.
The lower pic is the one I originally used here as my profile pic when I first joined TrekBBS. Taken during my first makeup and costume test in 1980.

Since people seem to keep speculating about the “romance” aspect of season 2, here’s an interview where Sir Patrick seems to reveal who the “romance” is with. Accidental reveal, maybe. With him, you never know.

This isn't really surprising given that
a scene of Laris/Picard about to kiss was included in a very quick flash in one of the trailers
I’m not surprised either, I know what I saw in that teaser… I’m more surprised that people kept speculating.

Aww, now I'm even more disappointed Zhaban doesn't seem to be in this season. Then they could make the three-person Romulan marriage thing from Chabon's season 1 notes canon.
^ Don’t give up just yet. Sir Patrick has said that Jean-Luc’s life mirrors his own in quite a few ways. And he and his wife seem to have some kind of inclusive relationship going on with Sir Ian McKellen. AND Sir Patrick has also said that there’s something unconventional about the romance etc. Who knows. Maybe they did go there. I’d give them MASSIVE kudos if they did because I for one am INCREDIBLY tired of seeing the next boring conventional heterosexual Trek relationship on screen. We’ve had that for decades now, it’s time for new stuff.

I'm a little surprised they aren't releasing PIC and DSC on different days at least, during the overlap weeks.

They don't and haven't for the past several seasons.
Another interview with Sir Patrick with lots and lots of little spoilers. Also, look at his response to PIC going on after season 3. It's indeed a shift for him to be like "never say never".

You're welcome! I view it as my duty to post Sir Patrick related news (he's kinda my 24/7 hobby) and if I can make (some?) Trekkies happy in the process, I'm all for it
