Spoilers Star Trek: Picard General Discussion Thread

Is that an Excelsior class model on the bookshelf, or an Ambassador class? (or the one from Lower Decks??)

Also...
... Picard is wearing a fancy Starfleet jacket and smiling. Since he wouldn't be wearing such at the beginning of the series, is this perhaps a shot from the season finale? Is he back in Starfleet? Ready to embark on the mystery ship of S3????......

Edit to add: Terry Matalas chimes in...

Perhaps he commanded the C in the alternate timeline!

I don't think it's from the alternate timeline, his badge looks way too Starfleet/Federation like compared to all the other alt-timeline badges/symbols we've seen so far.
It has red and black stripes that remind me of this

and that

And in the biography book (yeah yeah, not canon, everyone knows), he thinks they might give him the C, and Quinn makes him wait instead and then gives him the D.

I don’t think Doug Drexler is just being nice about Picard because he’s working on it. He bet someone $20 to at least try episode 1 of season 2 when it airs. Saying this is coming from a guy that walked out during ST09.

So I genuinely believe he likes what the show is doing in Seasons 2 and 3.

Beyond the nitpickers aspect of Major Grin's video(which I will make a second post within this post) and the hostility towards the show by the channel: this video shows in
powerful detail the decline of Jean Luc Picard from one of Starfleets greatest Captians to an old man. "waiting to die". Driving the point home it shows how his personality deteriorated then his psychological state. Powerful video imo. The mighty indeed fell and Picard transformed into JL. JL probably died when he became a golem and the last episodes of Season 1 saw the reversal of that transformation.

Yes, that's how humans work. It's called despair and it can happen to the best of us. The point of the story is how Picard fought back. It is completely and totally unfathomable that Picard would not change, which is usually what is expected from franchise fans is that these characters remain static, not dynamic, as people actually are.

if the rescue mission had succeeded UFP influence would have increased at the expense of the Tal Shiar, by destroying the space docks the Tal Shiar, slowed the admission of new member worlds into the UFP, harmed the UFP’s moral credibility, and made the Romulan Senate even more dependent on the Tal Shiar. The Tal Shiar also discredit Picard and Spock who were aiminv on improving UFP-Romulan relations. With the UFP evacuation of Romulan empire complete, the successor states to the Romulan Empire form a sea of Romulan domination that will eventually recover from the loss of the home world and form the Romulan empire anew under Tal Shiar rule. The subject People’s of the Romulan empire furthermore as a result of the Mars attack now will be unable to break free of the Romulan successor states without the UFP to support them. Thus the Tal Shiar sacrificed Romulas rather then see it fall into the UFP sphere of influence.with the UFP looking inwards and the Romulan successor states more dependent on the Tal Shiar for ensuing stability, is the Tal Shiar strategy of uniting the successor states into a neo Romulan Empire likely to succeed? Any UFP attempts to expand influence in the former Romulan empire is going to be half hearted, and we see no real evidence that the UFP looked outwards at the end of Picard, the biggest obstacle to Romulan designs is likely the Klingons. This is a potential origin of Nivar.
