Spoilers Star Trek: Picard General Discussion Thread

Hopefully someone from Paramount will let us know what's going on when Picard season 2 premieres .Sorry for any confusion with Picard news or with the Discovery hiatus . I'm sorry if I came across as rude and grumpy it's been a stressful few weeks.
All cool, Reanok. We're all stressed in one way or another. I was honestly just asking if you knew something I was missing.

Happy Holidays!

Thanks Warpfactor Z. My cat knocked down boxes of Christmas decorations and he was naughty. He wouldn't stay out of things I was trying to clean up .I'm glad to hear Jonathan Frakes is directing a Picard Season 3 show. I'm really curious about the Borg Queen will be up to in Season 2. The January/February Star Trek Magazine Explorer 2 will have interviews with Jeri Ryan and Annie Werschinger.I hope we'll finally get some new pictures from season 2.

On Trekmovie they posted a new Jonathan Frakes interview and he said he directed some Picard Season 2 shows and now was editing a few Picard Season 3 shows he recently Directed .It will be interesting to find out how many shows from both seasons he directed for Picard.

The Season 2 commercials in Canada are still saying February. But it’s entirely possible they’re just in the dark as we are. And most likely they'd need to wait for CBS to announce any change.

Yeah, I figure we'll probably hear about a delay this coming week? It will be kind of irritating if they don't bother mentioning it until we're, like, through January already.

Buuuut considering how short the notice was that Discovery's going on a brief hiatus...

Sadly, they have an extensive recent history of last minute schedule announcements. Not only did we only find out about the Prodigy and Discovery hiatuses the week before the midseason finales would air, but initially the official listings for Canada had Prodigy running through the entire month of November.

Both Crave and CTV Sci-fi had Prodigy S01E06 scheduled to release and air the last week of November, alongside S04E02 of Discovery, but then the announcement came for the hiatus, and then the schedules changed. Those weren’t dates that were based on speculation, they were on their official websites and release schedules. Star Trek’s Canadian affiliates were as in the dark about the hiatus coming as fans were, which indicates that if it’s delayed, as it seems like it will be, they may not make an official announcement until the last minute.

I’m looking forward to the start of season 2, but I have to say the whole “alternate authoritarian universe” leaves me cold. Is that really the best they could do? A type of mirror universe - ooh look, now the good guys are the bad guys…except they aren’t really…

If they want to consider alternative decisions and consequences, I’d rather they did it against an alien race. But then, I might be the odd one out, because I never did like the Q episodes.

It feels like based on the trailers that most of the season will take place in the past, trying to correct history.

Well, those trailers likely only represent the first few episodes. I doubt we'll be staying in the 21st century beyond the fifth episode.

Are the the Picard season 2 previews in Canada different from the ones they already have on Youtube?

We've previously seen Q deliberately age his own appearance to mock Picard, way back in All Good Things. In the trailer, we hear him commenting on how old Picard looks, just before he appears sporting an older-looking appearance himself. So him choosing to look older specifically because Picard now looks older isn't a new thing invented for this new season and it certainly isn't a retcon or reversal of his ageless status, it is simply a repeat of something he has done before. (Plus, of course, conveniently for the show, it saves on expensive digital de-ageing, since John de Lancie isn't actually immortal...;))
