The rumors have been discussed on this thread but the lowdown is: In a tweet, Terry Matalas cryptically hinted saying goodbye to some "familiar faces" while they were shooing the season 2 finally. Shortly after that it was announced Santiago Cabrera had been cast in the second season of Flight Attendant which is filming at the same time as Picard. Contractually, it's unlikely Cabrera would be allowed to film another series with Picard particularly with strong COVID protocols still in place on the Picard set. Also it was just announced on Monday Allison Pill is joining the Apple series Hello Tomorrow as a lead.
Also, it's believed Picard actors are not allowed to attend in person conventions while filming (again covid protocols) because they are not taking any chances with Patrick Stewart being 80. For STLV 2021, Michelle Hurd appeared virtually stating she couldn't' come because of Picard season 3 filming, but Isa Briones and Evan Evagora appeared in person and dodged questions about filming for season 3. Given that the season 3's setting appears to be shifting to a Starfleet ship this is where the gossip is coming from. Again this is all rumors but it's interesting speculation.

The Saturn Awards took place a few hours ago and DEADLINE has announced the full list of winners and it seems Sir Patrick took away the award for Best Actor On Television for PIC. I'm so happy for him!

Given the STIV theme of "going back to save the future", perhaps Picard et al. get put on trial for violating Starfleet orders. Season 2 ends with the Federation President addressing him:
FEDERATION PRESIDENT: Jean Luc Picard: It is the judgment of this Council that you be reduced in rank to Captain, and that as a consequence of your new rank, you be given the duties for which you have repeatedly demonstrated unswerving ability. The command of a starship.... As for the rest of y'alls, you goin' to jail!
And that's why they're not in Season 3!

Maybe it will be good, maybe not, but I really wish CBS had enough confidence in their Trek shows to not completely reboot them every 1-2 seasons.
They buy into the 3rd season mythos a little too literally.
I saw that Isa Briones Panels from Fed con were posted on Youtube I watched them. She mentioned How the Picard cast were glad to be back together to film season 2 and they were talking and catching up when a director told them to talk later they needed to film a scene scene for the first episode for season2. She mentioned she liked the white outfit for Soji in that scene from the first Picard season 2 video. Isa also liked going on location to shoot scenes for the different shows in season 2 . And that she got to meet John Delancie and he was really nice and that Soji has scenes with Q but that was all she could say about season 2 without spoiling anything from season 2. She says Picard has an interesting journey for season 2 and so does her character Soji and the rest of characters too. That they're like a family& had alot fun working together again. For a Picard season or series Finale, after the Q timeliness have been fixed to whatever Prime will be..... I want to see a recreation of the start of All Good Things.
