And it's not always bad.
Debatable. But, I am glad people are getting what they want
Although it's too early to tell, S3 seems to be going in the direction of a starship-based story. If true, I'm pretty excited about it! We're getting civilian Picard for S1 and S2, so I'm pumped if we're going to get re-commissioned Admiral/Captain Picard taking us on one last TNG style adventure!
Why does he have to be recommissioned to have an adventure?
Because he quit. Why is that so upsetting?
"Upsetting?" No. Disappointing is more accurate. I think Picard can have adventures without being recommissioned. Also, strains suspension of disbelief, but that's a minor quibble compared to "You must be in Starfleet in order to have an adventure!" Damn the logic, full TNG ahead!
He can keep going on adventures without being an officer.

There will have been two seasons without Picard being an officer. If he goes back to being one for the sake of the story, who cares? We still get an adventure, regardless.
Because it kinda ruins the point of the show.
It's unnecessary and misses the major theme of the show. So, yeah, I care because it pretty much says "Oh, you care about season 1?
you."
The show is about Picard and his adventures. Whether he's in a rag-tag fugitive gang or given command of a starship again for some reason, it's still about Picard. Are you thinking I'm saying the entire crew will be reunited for TNG S8? Because if so, I'm not.
Then no reason to return.
I hope Admiral Fucking Clancy returns for Season 2.
Yes, that's one of my favorite things about Picard. It's the first Star Trek series to not have any current Starfleet Officers in the main cast.

The second cursing was almost too much, simply because it tried to recreate the first, iconic one.
Use her powers wisely.
And show some other aspects of her.
Unfortunately, I doubt we'll see her again.
