Spoilers Star Trek: Picard General Discussion Thread

I know doesn't mean I have to like it, most of the time i like just having episodes of TV shows while doing my work
I get that. I definitely like episodes that I can watch fairly quickly. But, the trend is a movie style season long story.

That said, once a full season drops I'm better able to watch what I like.

Judging by who's posted here and who hasn't, it occurs to me that today we just learned who all the football fans are who the non-football fans are. :p
The only sport I used to watch is the one I'm doing myself, and only to see how the pros do it XD

The NX-01 officers played basketball aboard the ship in 2154. Clearly that sport is still alive and well in the mid-22nd century. :p

Bleh, don't remind me, half of my colleagues watch it every year in one of the meeting rooms, even though the broadcast begins at 12:30 AM in Central European Time... I'll have to watch hungover zombies shamble around the office all day again

Life’s been a bit busy lately so I haven’t been able to watch much TV, but I finally got around to watching the first two episodes of ST:P.

Let me first start out by saying that I wasn’t expecting to like it. While most here were positive about the show, many of the YouTube channels I watch/listen to seemed to crap on it. I still intended to watch and form my own opinion, but I didn’t come into it with high expectations.

My takeaway: Picard is really, really good. The overall story, at least so far, has drawn me in and I’m excited to see where it goes.

Moral of the story: You can't believe everything you hear on YouTube. ;)

Negative YouTube videos drive far more clicks than positive ones. And on YouTube, clicks are cash for content creators.

While no doubt true, at least a few of the YouTubers I watch have a mix of both positive and negative reviews of a variety of shows. As an example from 2019, Joker, Ford vs. Ferrari, The Boys on Amazon Prime and Chernobyl on HBO we’re all very positive whereas SW:TRoS and a few others didn’t garner as much positivity. Avengers:Endgame was received as mostly positive but they noted the flaws. I found that I shared many of the same sentiments. Picard is probably the first time, that I can think of, where my opinion was not only different, but completely different from these content creators.

Because it's hitting them harder than Discovery did. With DSC, it was just the general "What have they done to Star Trek?!" With Picard, it hits them closer to home. It's not general, it's specific. It's "What the Hell have they done to the Star Trek I grew up with?! #NotMyPicard!" The "criticisms" will be even more stringent, forced, and closed-minded. It hit them where it hurts for daring to be what it is and not something produced by Rick Berman that came out in 1994. Any similarities to Discovery (real or perceived) will drive them even further over the edge.
