Spoilers Star Trek: Picard General Discussion Thread

I would like to ask question according to the book's data alive in the noone sponge android looking for his daughter and the Borg are soundly defeated and cap. Picard can not become a flag officer due to sec 31 events

I realized only one episode is out but this universe seems to leave out all the books like this son and his inability to hold fleet rank

He’s revived his daughter there.
Yeah the books are very different. They actually feel like a continuation of the Picard character.

Red Letter Media videos are a waste of oxygen.

There's lots of good humor in there, and I enjoy their "Best of the Worst" series and the re:View can be pretty good too (their semgnent of videos Discovery and Picard are under) this particular review of there just seemed from an a place of extreme cynicism, probably just from their extreme dislike of Discovery and Alex Kurtzman so I guess they've just got to be convinced a lot more.

I mean I don't like Discovery, or Kurtzman and Abrams and their criticisms of them are fair and pretty on point from the stuff they've done, stuff like "they don't care" about simple things like how space works. There's problems with Abram's take on this in Trek '09 and Star Wars. And Kurtzman just isn't a great writer or good and making anything consistent and seems more wanting to lean on tropes and cliches.

But as much as I like the RLM videos their take on Picard just felt very off.

There was Janeway/Chakotay, Paris/Torres, and the abortive Chakotay/Seven romance.

I have been waiting over nineteen-and-a-half years for canon evidence that Seven leaves Chakotay.

I count the days until my dreams either come true or are somehow torn asunder...

I mean it's bad enough that it has the whole implied age difference and he's her boss thing going, but Beltran is so utterly unlikeable - and Chuckles isn't much better.

Yep, the books are their own seperate version of what happened after Nemesis. Supposedly the writers "have a plan" to either end the current stories or somehow fit them into the Picardverse. More details here.

I thought 7 and C made sense
If yer thinking of this, then it does...

Brilliant interview that you may all be interested in, especially Kurtzman’s comments on fan reaction to new Trek. People really need to cut this guy some slack.

I think he has been doing a solid job. Picard is looking to be brilliant and the cartoons might be fun. I think some of the problems with Discovery is almost out of his hands. I think it was almost doomed to be a mess soon as they fired Fuller so when I look at that show I tend to blame CBS more than I ever have Kurtzman.
