Spoilers Star Trek: Picard General Discussion Thread

Why is there an elf in the one picture, this isn't Middle Earth you know.

What happened to Picards beard, did it gain sentience and join the Federation.

Once upon a time there were three nacelles...

Those 3D printer replicators are actually growing on me. They even feel more high-tech than the wall units we have seen before on Trek... I mean, portable replicators that small? Count me in! They look like something you could take with yourself on a camping trip. Or imagine if you were stranded on a planet, but instead of just field rations you also had one of those babies and a battery with months worth of energy...

Alien species in Star Trek are always interesting..

im excited about what we will see and have seen in Picard...
I saw this alien a couple of times:

and this one, what was it called..Reptiloid?

I haven't done a rewatch yet and i dont remember if we saw any other aliens(?)
and i only grabbed these two scenes while watching.

One of my Non-Trekkie friends reflexively called Picard "Star Trek TNG" when talking about it. Which confirms something that I thought. While the Fandom Menace (I want to thank whoever came up with this term) automatically hates Picard for similarly reflexive reasons like "It's a new series and Alex Kurtzman sucks!", to Normal People, it's just more TNG. They perceive it as "Picard is back!" which to them means "TNG is back!"

So it's interesting to see how different circles of people think.

A guy I watch on twitch, Vinny, isn’t a huge Star Trek Fan, but he loves TNG and out right dislikes Picard. He gave it a chance, watched it all the way through. He doesn’t rant about it, he just shares his opinions like an adult.

Meanwhile, Bernd over at EAS seemed to enjoy it for the most part and he’s probably one of the most stuck up fans out there.

Basically opinions differ wildly even with in casual and ‘hardcore’ circles.

I noticed a trick to his episode ratings. He gives "satisfactory" episodes a 5. Whereas I give a "satisfactory" episode a 7. So all I have to do is add two points to whatever he gives an episode to get the "real" rating. It threw me off at first because when I looked at how he rated earlier series, I was thinking "Why is he rating them so low?!" Now I get it.

Isn't that how most people rate things? I mean a 1-10 scale isn't a school grade divided by 10, where everything less than a six is a "fail" after all.

My scale:
3 = bad
4 = kind of bad
5 = neutral
6 = kind of good
7 = good

"Kind of good" in my book isn't "satisfactory".

EDIT: I think there's a misconception among people that things go from "I thought it was bad" straight to "I thought it was good". That's not the case. In order to get from one to the other, you have to break through "indifferent" first.
