Y'all remember how Star Trek people used to be able to check someone's DNA in literally seconds?
Season 1 barely had swearing. There were 2 fucks.Already it seems like the profanity has been dialed back from season 1 levels
Maybe for you, not for most people, at least not for most people on this site.Ok, fine. It practically and effectively breaks the fourth wall, in that it immediately ejects a viewer from the episode and makes them think of real world production.
My opinion on the big reveal?
It’s a cover. It’s actually a clone of Jack Crusher, and Picard knows this, and pretends it’s his son because he wants to protect his “old Friend” after not being able to on the Stargazer. He felt he owed it to both Jack and Beverly. And Riker recognizes Jack as Jack, and that’s why he asking Picard about the obvious.
Well that’s my hope anyway. But as long as whatever the truth is is entertaining, I don’t care.
Apparently the darkness was a mistake they couldn't fix in time for filming. They wanted the bridge to self illuminate so they wouldn't have to use too many studio lights for more dynamic filming angles. At least Vadic attacking the Titan gave the bridge momentary lighting.
Sweet Fancy Kahless, people, they're light bulbs. They're not expensive, even in a post-pandemic economy.
But since Picard doesn't recognize Jack as the Jack Crusher from his early 20's.And of course, Picard would recognize Jack Crusher from his early/mid 20s immediately.
That's what holodecks are for if she wanted that. Some of the "tells" in the first episode (like seeing O.G. Jack Crusher's belongings, or the DNA in the closing titles) would make more sense with a Jack Crusher clone. And of course, Picard would recognize Jack Crusher from his early/mid 20s immediately.
That said...it's just profoundly creepy for Bev to clone her long-dead husband and raise him as a son. Was she hoping to fuck him when he got of age or something?
But since Picard doesn't recognize Jack as the Jack Crusher from his early 20's.
And Beverly confirmed to JLP that it's his kid.
That works out as to why JLP wouldn't recognize him right away.
Also the British accent, being the kid of Beverly & JLP & having a British Accent.
That's a dead give away that it's JLP's son.
The same way Worf's son, Alexander - born in S3 of TNG (circa 2466 given Data gave TNG S1 the date of 2264 in the S1 episode The Neutral Zone) can be a full fledged Klingon warrior serving aboard the Bird of Prey Rotaran by S6 circa2374 (at which time he should be age 8.)If it's 2401 and not 2411 then why does Raffi's granddaughter look like a 10-year-old child and not like a 12-24-month-old toddler?
Raffi's daughter-in-law was pregnant in 2399.

2401: How?

I hope so, but writers are human and can just make mistakes in storytelling. Or they potentially want us to think less of her.I'm sure Beverly had good reasons for doing what she did.
The death toll of the Battle of New York in the first Avengers movie was supposedly only 74.
If it's 20 something, can't they just up the number to 29?That's what holodecks are for if she wanted that.
Ed Speelers just had an interview where he's basically confirming he plays Picard's son and even helpfully gave out Jack's age of 20 something https://variety.com/2023/tv/news/ed-speleers-star-trek-picard-jack-crusher-1235532808/ . DIdn't realize he was the actor from Eragon, which I liked quite a bit despite the film's poor reception. Anyway the interview seemingly shoots down the theory of him being born during TNG S2
Tom Hardy was a failed clone, he either lost his hair early or chose to shave it for whatever reason.See, THAT'S what Picard looked like as a Cadet at the Academy in the 2320s. Not bald Tom Hardy.
I was paraphrasing, the actual interview answer was 23-24, which puts his birth before Nemesis strangely enoughIf it's 20 something, can't they just up the number to 29?
That would be easier given the actor is 34 y/o.
So in between movies?I was paraphrasing, the actual interview answer was 23-24, which puts his birth before Nemesis strangely enough
The same reason most sci-fi babies turn into speech-capable little kids in just a couple of seasons. To further the story needs. I mean, Alexander was a quarter human and not a full Klingon so technically he shouldn't have looked like a human kindergartener just two years after he was conceived but, hey, Star Trek.
Are accents genetic now? Also the British accent, being the kid of Beverly & JLP & having a British Accent.
That's a dead give away that it's JLP's son.
“I have no father!”Some of the "tells" in the first episode (like seeing O.G. Jack Crusher's belongings, or the DNA in the closing titles) would make more sense with a Jack Crusher clone. And of course, Picard would recognize Jack Crusher from his early/mid 20s immediately.

I doubt it.“I have no father!”
Like literally, maybe?
