I mean that Rios is going to choose to stay in the past, settle down with that woman, and be a stepfather to that boy.

I don't know- Rios seems very 'at home' with 24th-25th technology and life. I could see the kid and his mom coming forward, kind of like the whale doc Gillian Taylor in STIV.

If nothing else, that kid is clearly going to have a role next episode. His mother was arrested, and he's all alone - plus the communicator is right there. He's going to get in contact with the Discovery crew.

Interesting- I hadn't considered that but you are probably right.

Also, technically, Picard is a robot in this show (I always forget - but so do the writers). So why couldn't HE do the time travel calculations if even Spock could have done them? Instead of the Borg queen.
They mentioned it in first and second episodes. So no.

Yeah, let's not have a DSC tie-in. At all.

Like, let it not even be a consideration. I know Trek loves its occasional tie-ins and crossovers but...no.

"In some way" may be right on the money..

https://decider.com/article/star-trek-picard-stars-break-down-episode-3-is-elnor-really-dead/

"Uh… that’s a really good question I don’t know if I’m allowed to answer it,” Evagora said when Decider prodded him for info on Elnor’s final fate. “I know Elnor appears again, I just can’t say in what capacity or how. But, I don’t even know if I’m allowed to say that, but I did, so there we go!”

RIPFN. (Rest in peace-for now)

Let's not remind the showrunners about her, the last thing we need is New Trek to bring her back as an Orion slaver or something.

Spoiler alert: an episode later in season 2 will open with a minutes-long flashback to Naomi being gang-raped to death by a bunch of Klingons. It will be necessary to actually see all the violence and screaming and penetration, we won't be able to understand Seven's character arc without it.

I am still so pissed about that Icheb thing!

The Icheb thing, actually pretty much every aspect of that episode, got me to bail on the first season.

I really enjoyed this episode. Got all those good old feelings from Future's End and The Voyage Home in all the right places. I was hoping we'd get trippy heads in the time travel sequence, but there were enough homages to keep me happy. INSTANT love for the interactions between Rios and this seasons apparent love interest and modern-times-helper. That Rick and Morty reference was good at characterizing that trouble-maker kid. Looking forward to another exchange between him and Rios. I also really can't help but love it when Star Trek hammers down on the THIS IS BAD, STOP DOING THIS STUFF when they travel to the past. Those damn fires on the hills, what a common ass sight for us in California.

I feel like this season Jeri Ryan has truly reconnected with Seven as a character. Her nuance on the character is much more familiar this season than it was last. The really, really subtle sadness and vulnerability in her voice from the VOY days is back, and I love it. It's also very fitting for the story they seem to be telling with her, so it may have made it easy to find that voice again. I remember in some interviews she was saying it was difficult last season to come back to the character. Very heartbreaking when she mentions that strangers don't usually like her. Felt very much like how she use to voice young Annika through Seven.

I have to say wow! I certainly didn't expect what happened with Elnor. This show packed an emotional punch with all the characters.I liked Rios getting more back story .I liked the cute scene with Annika and the little girl who thought she was a super hero. Raffi had some really great scenes in this show. She was angry about Picard and Q playing games with peoples lives she was right on the mark when she said it. And Annie Wersching is doing a great job as the Borg Queen. The scenes with her and Agnes are menacing.

No no no, you're wrong. Modern Trek is a moral show.

There would never be any rape in it. That would imply the existence of (gasp) SEX!

That's why we only have bloody torture murder, gross gore, main characters executing prisoners, genocide and space cannibalism where our hero has to eat the ganglia of an intelligent alien, force-fed to her by a fascist mass murdering dictator that's also the snarky anti-hero sidekick later on!

How else could you justify watching it with your kids?

I thought the sling shot sequence was a nice modern reimagining. We got a nice effect with the characters "stopping", showing that time is wonky without being campy. Also, if you look closely you can see a tear go back up Jurati's cheek, indicating time is flowing backwards. That was a nice touch. The sequence looked very good IMO.

The sequence also has dynamic shield visualization which limits the surface of the ship from becoming superluminal hot and blanching in the photosphere.

By setting this in our modern day, they avoid any possible collision from Kirk's ships on their round trips to the 60's and 80's.

Now I'm wondering if Captain Christopher's son will make an appearance.
