The final trailer dies show a red vortex thing with tendrils. Also the pointy Romulan shoulders have returned.

I am guessing the tendrils in the red vortex is the alliance of synths coming towards the planet. The red vortex is their version of a transwarp conduit.

Man though - that mind-meld montage between Sutra and Jurati was awful. Seemed like it used a fair amount of stock footage not really Trek related at all.

I never thought you’d see stock footage in a Star Wars movie, but that happened. So I’m fine with it. But that imagery of the fox decaying has been overused.

If you have a problem with Picard, your issue is with Michael Chabon and others, or are you one of those that just likes to bash Kurtzman endlessly even about things he didn't write?

You will never convince people like that of anything sensible. They’re too far deep in Nerdrotic and Mecharandom videos to back down now. It’s not based on logic, objectivity, or even reality; it’s based on bias and hatred. I’d not waste time trying to convince them of Kurtzman’s role, or lack of it. There’s really no point.

Ep 109’s opening scene VFX were the best this franchise has ever had

The story might be all over the place, but it sure as hell looks pretty.

why did this need it's own thread?

Merged. We have episode discussion threads for a reason.

How did Arik Soong survive into Picard's time? Don't try to convince me that wasn't him. Only Arik Soong would call himself a "mad scientist".

Time travel? Or being sucked inside a wormhole that also a time-travel device

Seven crashed the cube on the planet. Did she take flying lessons from Chakotay?

You're not going to make an analogy between Seven and Troi (and between Chakotay and Riker) aren't you??;);)

Unless I missed something, we still didn't get a payoff on the Beautiful Flower mystery. There may yet be a reveal next week.

Sorry I forgot to switch on the poll last night... :o

If I can buy into the conceit of the same role being recast with different actors, I can certainly buy the conceit of close relatives of a character being played by the same actor.

Soong is a clone, no doubt. In fact, they're all clones. There hasn't been a naturally-born Soong in probably 400 years. And given the state of Arcadia, he's a dirty old man. Or maybe I'm the dirty old man.

Starfleet Command received that message from Picard, even though they couldn't respond, and they're sending a fleet to the planet commanded by Riker onboard the Enterprise-?. Soji will stop Sutra from destroying the Federation fleet next episode, probably through violence.

That body with mind transfer is being made for Soong, of course, who I guess must be dying or just scared of being so old (I guess he's Picard's age? Which adds a bit more to Noonien's backstory, since he's cloning himself thirty years before building androids with Juliana). Soong will die, no doubt, probably killed point-blank by Sutra, and Jurati will offer the body to Picard some point after the climactic battle. Who will then turn her down with a speech about living ones full life or some nonsense. He'll survive, and we'll be going into Season 2 with the terminal brain illness still on the table.

I don't really like the idea of a synthetic mind meld... but I guess telepathy is a biological function, that can be mimicked and transferred if Soong/the synths discover how to tap into the telepathic field or whatever. Touch telepathy is probably much more easier than the remote variety we see from Betazoids or Talosians.

It was Oh. They didn't show Rizz-Oh this episode.
Which leads me to believe that I might have been right about Narissa being assimilated just before she beamed out of the cube last week.
Will half the Romulan Armada be Borg when they arrive?

Seven gets even in a most delightful way for Rizzo spacing all those drones. :techman:
