Yeah ... I'm thinking that upon reading a couple of excerpts of that book back then, is the main reason I got it.
I was a horny dog in my 20's back then.

did any of you guys read books for what they had to say - not just secondary (and that is putting it nicely) amusement?

What can I say .... I was a single working guy in my 20's who had developed a very early interest in all things sexual, after my sister took me to Woodstock when I was 9.

Anything that seemed to provide a release in that area became of great interest to me for many, many years.

read it again, it's a great book - providing you know that other stuff by now

... and wtf do you mean by 'in my 20s' and 'early'?

I'm sure dismissals have happened before with other Presidents.
But I'm also sure none of them were even slightly as Publicly Vindictive as the latest have been.
That alone proves just how unfit our current President is to lead this country.

And to have a subordinate practically admit that it was Vindictive by adding the phrase "We're just flushing the pipes" just goes to show how low this Administration has brought this Country down.
I happen to like many of the policies he has enacted and suggested. Some of them align with my personal viewpoints. Some don’t.

I am one of those nerds who spends huge amounts of time on government websites that have the raw, factual, data. There is no question he has helped grow the economy.

I don’t care how crass or vindictive he gets, as long as he gets results and grows the economy. There is no requirement for the President to be respectful and dignified. It would be nice if he were more “Presidential” but that often means they are pretending to be nicer than they are.

I am glad that we are free to select which President we feel will help the country.

I voted the first time for Mr. Barack Hussien Obama, then J. McCain, then for President Trump.

I am independent and vote for who I think can help.

That would be most of the books I've read. Not Forever War, however. The only reason i read that book was because it was chosen for a book club I was part of. And then, at a later date a female friend I went to a LA Worldcon with was hit on by a Drunken Joe Haldeman which only made my reading of Forever War seem even more accurate. Not out of the ordinary for SF writers of his vintage though. At one con Larry Niven hit on a woman I knew twice, because the second time he didn't recognize her when she was in costume.

This is neither the time nor place to continue this discussion, but ...
You're trying to compare Apples and Oranges with that and failing miserably.

MacArthur publicly defied Truman and was chastised for it.
Vindman was doing his job and was subpoenaed by Congress to testify.

And his brother, who had absolutely nothing to do with the investigation was also escorted out of the White House yesterday.

If you can't see the difference due to your apparent blind following of the extremely amoral man in the White House, then this conversation is over.
Have a lovely evening.
You don’t know at al what his brother did or did not. They could be angry after the acquittal and were working to harm the country.

Ugggg....
You do realize that things economical in the USA now-a-days, are still riding on the coattails of what the last administration spent Eight Years correcting, right?
It's easy to claim victory when someone else fixes the problems.

I'm guessing you haven't yet read my post about this NOT being the place for a conversation such as this.
Cest la vie
Time to move on.

I'm about to maybe apply a couple of thread bans if you two don't knock it the fuck off.

From now on I am only voting for the SYNTH party.

It’s motto: Free everything, but some unfortunate indirect genocide every so often.
