Star Trek Phase (Have you been in one before?)

Have you ever found yourself watching mostly Star Trek?

I bought a ton of TNG, and DS9 on VHS. I also re-watched TOS, TNG, DS9, and VOY episodes I taped onto blank VHS tapes. I then re-watched them numerous times after the DVD releases, as well. However, I can't peg down if there was a true Trek phase until just recently, though. I remember watching a lot of Trek before. Maybe I been in 2-3 phases before and can't really recall them specifically.

However, what I do know is that I put my Netflix subscription on hold just yesterday because nothing really interests me right now. I might even cancel my subscription come August. I am not sure. I just would rather watch an episode of Trek rather than some movie that I really don't care about. Now, that isn't to say there isn't any good movies out on DVD. It just means that I am re-discovering my Trek collection again after so many years (since picking them up on DVD).

Well I go in cycles with things anyway. I didn't read a comic book for months and now I am reading like two graphic novels a day.

Generally with Star Trek I go for awhile without it and then a specific episode will pop into my head and I'll want to see it again. Unfortunately the only DVD's I have our TOS. Fortunately I know where to watch everything else online illegally:shifty:. With DS9 it is usually whole story arcs I want to see again so I'll watch a large part of a particular season. With TNG I start looking up and down the episode list and episodes will come back to me and I'll start watching 2 or 3 a day for a few weeks.

I hadn't watched much trek for a long time, I mentioned it on here, and since then, I've watched about 30-35 random episodes, mostly STNG. I even watched old STNG episodes instead of watching Lost, V, Flash Forward and Fringe on DVR! So yes, I guess I'm in a phase.

I've also been re-reading old SF novels, so I've migrated to reading lots of new e-books too as a phase...

I recently got through the Original Series (Remastered) and the TOS films. I then moved on to TNG but got stuck at Encounter at Farpoint.

Geez, I really hate that episode.
Maybe I will do some drinking before making another attempt at re-watching it again.

Won't work. There isn't enough beer in the world to make that episode any better. I know, I've tried it. Save yourself some time and a massive headache the next morning and go to right to Season Two.

Suffer through it. That will make the rest of season 1 and 2 seem just a bit better. The first two seasons of TNG was the hardest for me to get through.

Now I've picked up the first four seasons of NCIS. Guess that will be my next phase.

I have a sense of nostalgia and triumph from season 1...just the fact that ST was on TV again. I have no problems watching those episodes. Awesome

Variety truly is the spice of life. Occasionally, I get into a Trek phase, but it is never a Trek ONLY phase.
I do, however, get into Pixar-type movie phases more than anything. Those movies are exciting and interesting for adults, too!

I'm stuck in a perpetual DS9 phase.

That's not a bad place to be. My DS9 re-watch will end tommorrow with the final three episodes. The only question now is, which Star Trek should I re-watch next? TOS is out because I just watched the remastered sets before Christmas, so I'm left with TNG, Enterprise, or Voyager. I can't decide.

What do yo guys say?

Hmm. Maybe I should start a poll.

You know I feel the same way. The thing I hated most about season 2 was that they replaced Crusher with Pulaski, and I hated the show all that year, but now, twenty years later, I still love Crusher and dislike Pulaski, but I can stomach her because I know I'll get my favorite Doctor back in the next season.

Of course, it helps that nostagla plays a part too.

Truthfully I got side tracked with an SGU phase or mini marathon. I just recently got caught up with the series on Hulu.

Still really wouldn't care if the show got canceled tomorrow, though.
And I loved SG-1 and Atlantis.

I've been thinking about re-watching all of DS9...memory has been fading about some of it already. Needa re-fuel.

I come and go out of Trek phases. I have most of the shows on DVD now, but I don't often watch massive marathons in production order. I'll just pick whatever random ep I feel like watching that night.

I'm always in a phase, to one degree or another.

Watch Elaan of Troyius last night and am currently watching The Omega Glory.

Good stuff! :techman:

Does it count if you might watch 1 ep per day, and you can't concentrate in school because you think about Star Trek, and everytime no one's talking to you and you have time you think about Star Trek, and even when someone is talking to you and you wouldn't have time to waste you STILL think about it, and it's almost crazy 'cos you can't even sleep 'cos Star Trek's all you can think about, and it's all just really, really, really crazy, and suddenly you realize that everything in your life is actually connected to Star Trek and it's kinda freaky, but then it kind of fades away over time?

And if the answer is 'yes', then I had one this year, and I'm not sure is it even healthy, 'cos I was almost losing my mind.

Still, I kinda liked it... :D

I would but I'm not good at drawing them! :(
So I just fill them with endless line of 'ST ST ST ST...'

But I would if I could! :D
