Have you ever been in a Star Trek Phase before? Have you ever had movies from Netflix and DVDs from your friends pile up because you have been watching mostly Star Trek?

Granted, this doesn't count the two or three shows on television you watch and or the occasional big block buster action comic book film or other flick you catch at the theater. This is your regular DVD movie renting (new releases and old) vs your Star Trek viewing.

So, if you have ever been primarily in the mood (i.e. phase) for Star Trek at one point in your life, then please vote "yes" and tell us about which series and films you watched (during this phase).

Either that or discuss your reasons for not wanting to get caught up in a Star Trek phase or how you almost got into one, but cleverly avoided it.

Anyways, thank you for reading. And please have fun posting.

Sincerely,

~J.

Yes. When the trailer for ST09 was first released, it kicked me off on a massive rewatch that lasted about six months. I only wish the movie had been good :(

Yes. Just finished a 6 month marathon of watching every series and movie on DVD/Blu-Ray. Not sure when I will watch trek again. ... It may be a while. :borg:

Holy cats!

Now that is awesome!

:techman:

I recently got through the Original Series (Remastered) and the TOS films. I then moved on to TNG but got stuck at Encounter at Farpoint.

Geez, I really hate that episode.
Maybe I will do some drinking before making another attempt at re-watching it again.

As of right now: I am watching random episodes to get my daily Trek fix.

Was it all the series? Or just certain ones?

Won't work. There isn't enough beer in the world to make that episode any better. I know, I've tried it. Save yourself some time and a massive headache the next morning and go to right to Season Two.

Ha, ha, ha... awesome! That is so cool that you at least made the attempt though. I really admire that.

Yeah, I would like to skip it. But I have come too far in my "Watch All Trek" marathon to turn back now.

Geez. I just cycle through "Phases" all year round. I've been described as a "serial monomaniac". Trek is one of the Phases in high rotation, hitting a few times a year.
I do classic Universal Monster films every year through the Fall. Usually pull a '50's SF phase in December. Usually go through an '80's Horror cycle and recently did an "I hate remakes but what the hell, I own the damn things so I might as well watch 'em. All" Phase. Japanese Horror. Godzilla. Mexican Santo movies pop up every other year or so.
Vampire films. (usually followed closely by Softcore Vampire Erotica--hey nobody's perfect)
etc.

Currently I'm watching Season 1 of Voyager and will be stuck in that mode until the DVDs are exhausted and I've dug out all the scattered VOY vhs stuff lurking in the boxes in the corner.

So. Always in a Phase. Often a Trek phase, but not all the time.

Huh. I did this same thing from January 1 to July 28 or 29 2007. One episode a day of every series. I am currently re-watching DS9 for the first time since then.

Just got TNG on DVD for the first time, and I'm enjoying some selected episodes and all the bonus content, interviews and documentaries.

Yeah, when the buzz for the new movie started gaining traction, I came back here to rejoin the forum. I had been a member years ago, but just drifted away and I couldn't find my old login.

I've started picking up more used Trek books, and I keep one in the bathroom at all times (currently reading Memory Prime), we got the complete TNG DVDs last summer, and a few months ago we started the rewatch of the series (just did Sins of the Father last night).

And I've been posting quite a bit on this forum, I can't believe how quickly I made commander.

But before the buzz for the movie, my Trek-ism had kind of faded a little. I didn't hate it or anything, I just let it exist in the background for a while.

I'm currently trekking through all of Trek. At a slow pace, though. I started around Christmas of '08 and I expect I'll be done around Christmas of this year.

So, yep, I'm in a phase right now.

In my lifetime i've definitely gone through Trek phases. Ever since last year though (when JJTREK came out) i've been in one and haven't quit it yet. The 'new movie' reinstilled my passion for Trek big time.

I recently watched all of DS9...so yeah, I was in a phase for a while. Now I'm in a Farscape phase, but that's almost over, 1 ep to go...I might try TNG next...hopefully I'll make it past Season 1's awfulness...

Interesting topic. I seem to go through phases of what captures most of my attention. For me, I'm always somewhat interested in Trek, but the level changes. I'd say I'm usually at a 3-4, but it will spike every 3 months or so to 9 or 10.

I watch Trek a few nights a week and have been on marathon binges before. I also binge on the books, and will read nothing but Trek books for a few weeks before moving on to something else, only to come back to Trek again.

I am in one right now. I've been doing a rewatch of TNG, since I got the series on DVD last month. I think I went into overload though (was watching like 5-8 episodes a day). I am about midway through season 3. I plan on watching all of DS9 after that (just got the entire series of that as well, yesterday as matter of fact). Additionally, I usually watch selected movies, from the franchise, yearly. It is usually Treks 1-6.

I go in waves. Sometimes I'll be really into TNG, other times TOS, or the movies, or DS9, whatever. I'm not sure what really triggers it off. Sometimes it's hearing the music somewhere. The anticipation of the newest flick.
Actually, I'll go through phases like this of other interests, too, such as Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Planet of the APes, whatever.

Suffer through it. That will make the rest of season 1 and 2 seem just a bit better. The first two seasons of TNG was the hardest for me to get through.

Now I've picked up the first four seasons of NCIS. Guess that will be my next phase.

I was in a phase from 1986-2001, a fifteen-year period in which Star Trek was really the pinnacle of everything entertainment-wise for me. I was into the shows, movies, comic books, novels, action figures, model kits--I was even writing Star Trek fanfics--all at the same time. The only thing I wasn't doing was dressing up in a costume and going to conventions.

For me, the decline started in 1999 when DS9 ended and I just wasn't getting the same kind of thrill I had with VOY. I had high hopes for ENT, but that faded very quickly. By late 2001, I was starting to drift towards other things and Star Trek began to fall into the same category as other sci-fi/action franchises I liked. Not even Star Trek XI could elevate it back to where it was for me. These days, I consider myself far more a casual Star Trek fan than I was before.
