Just for fun, I made a video of a solo SB24 run with no deaths with my new Presidio Command Battlecruiser. Enjoy!

So what is everyone doing to prepare for the new season later this month? The new starship doff system is a big part of that. What ships are going to be needed. Are older leveling ships going to be useful or should they be dropped in favor of lockbox , T6, and T5 ships? Will the list of ships be interchangeable as time goes on?

I've been playing with the Admiralty system on tribble, so here's what I have gathered: There's no need to drop ships. In fact, its the opposite. You need as many ship cards as you can get your hands on. And its not just quantity, its also variety. You will need multiple escorts, multiple cruisers and multiple science vessels. You will need multiple ships from every tier.

For every ship you have in the shipyard, you will get its equivalent ship card. If you have bought C-Store ships that are not currently in the shipyard, you can get its ship card by obtaining the ship then dismissing it after the New Dawn expansion goes live. You will need to do this for every character.

High tier ships have long maintenance times, 20 hours for T6 ships and 15 hours (I think??) for T5 ships. Meaning they can only be used roughly once per day. Typically, missions graded Rare (Blue) or higher can only be done with 3xT5 ships. Very Rare missions probably needs 3xT6 ships. So I save my T5 and T6 ships for these missions. The rest of the time, I either send lower tier ships, or one T6 ship with 2 low tier ships for support.

I'm preparing the build of my warbird for disruptor weapons, and I'll get the rep gear for it.

Admiralty? I'm curious, but not particularly excited. I don't like doffing much, so another doffing will bore me quickly, after the period of novelty passes.

As for "dropping" ships, I think a ship is added to your list when you commission it, but it's not removed from it, when you discharge it to make space for another. I could be wrong, but that's how I understood it.

One thing is certain: I won't buy ships or ship slots just for this doffing.

Just fyi, some admiralty missions (not all) can give 10-20k xp, 10-20k ec, 1000-2000 dilithium and other goodies. Its substantial enough that I foresee the Admirality system will be my my primary means of leveling up. This is especially true for my many alts.

We have about a dozen ship boxes in the fleet bank. Mostly Terran mirror, a couple alien ships.
I plan to distribute those to fleet members on a needing basis.

Yup. Less than 2 weeks.

And lowering level requirement for Delta Q, which was quite a sensible thing to do.

I'm spending these days upgrading my space gear. :)

Coolness. Might look into buy some mirror ships from the exchange next time I log in. Hopefully that will be sometime over the weekend, depending on RL.

Oh my GOD!!!!

So... I have been using an old old old pc forever now, I mean a real crap pc... STO has always looked so sad on it. My pc struggled to display even the most basic detail.

Yesterday my pc finally died, not recoverable... So I walked into Best Buy... walked out with a ASUS ROG G20 gaming pc... OH my fucking GOD!!! It is a beast! And STO... words fail me... I should have sent a poet to come and post this for me... it's... AMAZING!!! This game is so beautiful I could weep.

I knew ship abilities had cool graphics but holy shit! The game moves seamlessly now, it's like a whole new game. I could just cry!

Oh, and sorry for all the exclamation points!

To celebrate I also picked up a new Alita class ship, I am in love. She's a lethal little ship.

So this weekend is a sto weekend... As Kirk said at the end of voyage home... My friends...we've come home.

A year or two ago I tried playing but couldn't get the hang of flying my ship.
My pc died a few days ago. I've ordered a new high end pc and am probably going to give the game another chance.
Anybody have any tips for a relative newbie?
I just plan to go with an Andorian male captain.

Just take your tine. Don't rush things. Ask if you think you Misses important Information, but pay attention during the tutorials. The Game will tell you many things, but only once and then you are on your own. Play around with your optional for gear and skills and abilities.
And join out TrekBBS fleet(s) in game to ask for help, Team ups or just hanging around on out starbase.

Thanks!
I definitely plan to start back at the beginning with the tutorials
The biggest problem I had was steering my ship. I'd get really lost. I'm hoping a better pc will help.

I haven't been on for a week and a bit. I hope regular logins are not required to keep going.

I've been playing Deus Ex games.

So I've been exploring areas I never could with the old pc.... Like the solanae dyson sphere, what a beautiful map. Almost time for the next season, looking forward to it. Definitely a good time to return to to game after a long absence.

No, they're not. :) I just went through a period of several months without logging in, and I know others who haven't logged in for years and their characters still exist.
