I have about two storyline missions to go and I have so far enjoyed the story. The voice acting has been good and its been fun to see the some of the Voyager crew in the game. I do like the new ground zone also.

I dislike however the inclusion of these patrol missions between the actual story ones. Most of them are pretty boring and with the HP increase of the enemies, often tediously long( and that is only with normal difficulty, I am scared to even try them on elite lol). I would rather go trough the story without them, even if I would only level to..lets say level 55.

Finally made it to Level 60 :D

I have to agree with you on the patrol missions, I was playing them on elite but it took so long due the insane amount of shields and HP i changed back to normal difficulty. would rather spend some time running some queues.

The last mission I had to run 3 times due to bugs on the last space map, were enemy ships were stuck 'inside' space structures and were therefore untargetable :scream: - although they could shoot at me.
I ran the mission twice on elite (Which seemed to take forever!) and I had the above issue, for the last run I switched to normal difficulty and had no issues.

frustrating that the story missions don't give you the XP to actually play them all the way through, and there are huge gaps where you have to figure out other stuff to do and come back. Felt like the progression speed was fine, but they needed to include more missions to fill it up.

Even when you used to level slow, there were enough missions to do so. Worst case, you sometimes had to do one patrol or something to top off a promotion, but it was always close. I keep getting dumped out of missions almost a full level short of the next available one...

Only playing this on one toon at the moment, and just doffing like crazy on the rest so that they'll be mid-level when they start and can just play through.

I did that on Tribble during testing one time. I leveled to about mid 54 and was able to play through the content without the breaks.

The leveling progression was designed intentionally I assume as a passive time gate and prevent that people burn through the content within a couple of days.
As per usual many players do it anyway and fidn the missions that are best suited for that.

Without a doubt Cryptic wanted us to keep playing the usual existing content in between as we have been doing all the time.

It will be interesting how the progression will be with my Romulan Rakall who is standing right in front of Hassan's cantina as a fresh level 50.
My plan for her is to keep playing missions, maybe a bit sampled and skipping the really bad ones, while working on Romulan rep in between.
By the time I get through teh Romulan content I might already be level 60, so I can then collect Romulan rep gear and be probably ready to hit Delta decked out in Mk XII Romulan and fleet gear.
I assume it will be a much better experience that way to play just the main missions and be done with it.

I agree that playing through all the new DR missions should help get a player to level 60, or at least 57 or 58. I tried playing on elite setting for the bonus xp and even then, that character is no where close to level 55 by the end of the last mission. Not to mention how ploddingly slow combat at elite level is. It literally took me 10 minutes to take down a single Vaadwaur Heavy Artillery Vessel, and that was in a ship that does 23k dps in ISA. It must have had several million shield hp and about 2 million hull hp. That's why players are power levelling in Tau Dewa, its more action packed and the faster route to 60.

Anyway, closing Tau Dewa doesn't stem the tide. It is actually faster to use Delta Quadrant patrols to power level. I had a toon go from level 50 to 60 in a little over an hour. XD

There's another power leveling spot the devs may not know about. It's one of the Cardassian missions, I forget the name. You warp in and are supposed to disable the defenses of DS9. While you do that, there is a Cardassian/Jem'Hadar fleet battling in the background.

That fleet is neverending. It's just wave after wave of ships. A group can go in there and kill til their heart's content. Keldons and Galors and Jem'hadar ships over and over.

ALso a thought on why the devs are in red alert about this issue.

People are NOT only power leveling to get to level 60 and be able to play the new content! This is NOT the issue.
Many people who are raging about this have another agenda:
Captain specialization!
It's all about unlocking ALL specialization points asap.
THAT and nothing else.
Those minmaxers couldn't care less about playing a few missions a little faster.

It could also be about Dil. if you power through all the specilizations, it begins to reward Dil. If this is an express to easy Dil, what with the Dilithium event coming this weekend, they may want to shut that down quickly.

Well they dropped dilithium from maxing out specializations.

Also space advanced STFs give the amount of marks getting the optional during the old STF hourly event did, and the grounds ones give enought that they may have been revitalized.

Oh specializations are the least of my worries. I have 10 characters who all need to get level 60, not to mention 10 Delta Reputation faction to gain, 10+ ships to master, 7 crafting schools to master, 2 more fleet holdings to complete. Every other player, including myself, already have way too much stuff that needs to be completed in the game. So I'll make use of any legimate in-game tool that helps me quickly finish one of these things. And patrols are not an illegal exploit. Those have been in-game for a year.

I think it was the scaling down with the side kick system so NPCs are easier to kill that was the problem there.

It's definitely not an exploit if that is what they are doing. I used it on Tribble to level up for testing, and yes, I used it on Holodeck as well.

FYI, "I did this and didn't get in trouble" doesn't equate to "is not an exploit".

It was simply lower priority to them until the realized what it meant for Dilithium farming. Stuff that mucks with the RMT economy is the highest priority, for obvious reasons, and not everything that's considered an exploit results in everybody involved getting penalized.

Apprently people got 20k+ dilithium for every new experia bar that was filled after specialization was maxed out.
And people managed to do that at least once an hour.

I solo'd Japori off and on until 55, then went back twice and did it in a group. Then stopped when I hit 60. I didn't intend to cheat the system, just get to 60 so I could play the content without forced breaks.

I have to agree using to generate tons of Dil would definitely qualify it as an exploit.

Looks like the latest patch has broken the game for me somewhat, I keep crashing to desktop randomly. I can play some but its a slight annoyance.
I tried to verify files and send a ticket..but cant really say what is causing it. I got no blue screens or system issues though.

Okay. So, I bought my new Advanced Research Vessel over the Multi-Mission vessel.

I like it.:techman:

The main deciding factors, as aformentioned in an earlier post, was not only the turn rate, but the universal stations. And, while the Multi-Mission has a Lt. Cmdr and Ensign Uni station, I know I'm going to be using my sci powers more than any other...hence the reason I have no problem with the set sci station in the Advanced Research Vessel.

The turn rate in my new ship is also good.

I'm going to take in on a couple of runs with Starbase 234 to see what I need to work on. I still need to respec my character, so that may add some addition buffs in skills I need.

Of course, I may be renaming my ship:

*U.S.S. Nyota Uhura (which used to be the name of my support cruiser, which is no longer in my line up since I have the retrofit).
*U.S.S. Saratoga
*U.S.S. Blackhawk

Or.....?

I don't know.
