Star Trek Novels in Germany

The first "A Time to" novel is now listed on startrekromane.de, and its name is "Zeit das Wandels - Geburt", which translates to "Time of Change - Birth". I'm assuming that "Zeit des Wandels" is going to be the German translation of "A Time to", and then the individual novels will just be called "Birth", "Death etc, but in German (obviously).

I was wondering why they didn't just use the German version of Ecclesiastes 3 as the source of the titles, but I looked it up, and though I don't know if the translation at the link is the standard German version of the Bible, it doesn't have the repetition of "a time to..." that would make the title format work. So I guess they had to add a blanket title.

I really hope we're gonna get a new set of covers here. The "A Time to" covers were always some of my least favourites. The book is also planned for April 2023, so if we get monthly releases next year, the series would be complete by December. If that is the case (and so far it is purely speculation on my part), I wonder what that means for original releases in 2023, as I'd assume Cross Cult would want to put them out at the same time as the originals, when possible.

Anyway, I can't wait to finally read those books!

New covers? Looks like we'll get them. Meanwhile, another yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeahh has been announced.....

Cross Cult revealed the release schedule for most of 2023:
We'll get the first four "A Time to" novels in April, June, September and October, the SNW novel The High Country in May and Harm's Way in September! (And Second Self in March, but we already knew that.) Next year honestly looks a lot more exciting than this one, at least from my perspective.

Did they drop Wiedergänger?
It‘s still listed on their website, but doesn‘t have a release date attached. I‘m getting a bit worried it‘ll be a new Never-Ending Sacrifice situation.

ETA: I spoke to soon, it‘s been added for November 2023 now!

I think I was actually more excited for new covers for A Time to than I was for the announcement of the SNW novel translation :D

I came to like Anson Mount. Not sure when I can finally watch SNW.... It might as well take years until it is shown on Tele 5.

Yes, 2023 looks absolutely great. There are already 11 novels announced, more than we had in the last years.
Cross Cults numbers of Star Trek novel releases:
2008 4
2009 8
2010 13
2011 16
2012 20
2013 17 (+1 ebook only story)
2014 13 (+7 ebook only story)
2015 16 (+11 ebook only story)
2016 15 (+14 ebook only story)
2017 13 (+1 ebook only story)
2018 12
2019 11
2020 11
2021 3
2022 7
Until the end of 2022 we will have 179 Star Trek novels from Cross Cult in german, plus 34 ebook storys (19 of them have been printed in Collections, so 15 remain ebook-only).

My only (personal) problem is:
Until now, I just have read only 123 of them, so I am still 56 novels behind. With this increase of new novels every year, I will NEVER be able to catch up ;-)

I wish I could finally say this....

What's wrong with the U.S. covers to A Time to...? I kinda liked 'em. And they obviously worked, since the series sold really well and stayed in print for well over a decade.....

I'm glad the books did well, I've heard good things about them myself (which is why I'm fairly excited to finally read them, despite not liking TNG very much).

As for what I dislike about the covers: I find the colors chosen for the backgrounds generally unappealing, the repeat of the other entries' titles that ends with the final one being cut off at the bottom of the page looks frankly amateurish (and I know the graphic designer can do better, because it isn't cut off on the first two books), then some of the longer author credit overlaps a tiny bit with the second-to-last title repeat and the spacing or font size got changed between the second and third book (presumably to avoid the author credit/title collision as much as possible?), leading to not only the title of the current book being repeated, but also the upper half of the following.
I do like the little main character portraits (particularly the A Time to Sow one with La Forge) and the little stripe with ship action at the top. Just everything between that is just not for me.

As to my editions.... the books are worn and were wet once. They don't look neat and pristine anymore. I want knew ones with good paper quality and without stains on it.

As to the covers: let's talk about them when they are finally revealed...And I don't judge books by the covers. I don't like the Neverending Sacrifice cover (everyone else seems to like it), which is one of the best books I've ever read in English (unfortunately not translated into German). :D
