Star Trek: Nemesis - The Deluxe Edition Soundtrack from Varèse Saraban

Star Trek: Nemesis: The Deluxe Edition soundtrack to be released 1/6/2014

Varèse Sarabande is releasing a 2-disc expanded soundtrack album of Jerry Goldsmith's final Trek score - Star Trek: Nemesis!

From the website:

It was, sadly, one of Jerry Goldsmith’s last film scores. Only Timeline and Looney Tunes: Back In Action (both 2003) would follow it. In 2002 Jerry Goldsmith took his final voyage on the fabled USS Enterprise and gave Star Trek Nemesis and the whole Next Generation crew an epic send-off.

This is the release so many Star Trek fans have been waiting for. Goldsmith’s complete score from Star Trek Nemesis is presented, along with a set of bonus tracks that includes source music, a set of alternate cues and mixes, plus a rare opportunity to listen in to the final moments of Jerry Goldsmith on the Star Trek scoring stage with his orchestra and director Stuart Baird.

In the wake of a joyful wedding between Riker (Jonathan Frakes) and Troi (Marina Sirtis), Captain Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) receives another reason to celebrate: the Romulans want peace and the captain will be the Federation's emissary. But as the Enterprise heads toward the Romulan Empire, a brilliant villain awaits — harboring a diabolical plan of destruction and an unimaginable secret that will give Picard his most fearsome challenge.

We’re very excited to mark the return of the Varèse Sarabande CD Club with this historic and important Jerry Goldsmith release.

On a related note, it's been a literal golden age for Star Trek fans in the world of soundtracks these last few years. Hopefully if this sells well, we'll likewise see an Expanded/Deluxe Edition from Varèse for Star Trek Into Darkness and maybe it won't be too much to hope for same treatment by GNP Crescendo for Star Trek: Insurrection. We'll see!

Re: Star Trek: Nemesis - The Deluxe Edition Soundtrack from Varèse Sar

(1) There's already a thread for this.

(2) There already is an expanded edition of Star Trek: Insurrection, isn't there?

Re: Star Trek: Nemesis - The Deluxe Edition Soundtrack from Varèse Sar

I didn't see the other thread, my bad.

If there's an expanded edition soundtrack for Insurrection, I must have missed it. :(

Re: Star Trek: Nemesis - The Deluxe Edition Soundtrack from Varèse Sar

Wow, I totally did miss that one. Not sure how that could have happened. Thanks for the heads-up Harvey!

Re: Star Trek: Nemesis - The Deluxe Edition Soundtrack from Varèse Sar

Pretty much all the Nemesis music was bland and forgettable. Reminds me of the same style that seemed to begin with Planet of the Apes (2001) and has appeared one way or the other randomly. Even Man of Steel uses those "big drums".

What "big drums" are you referring to?

Re: Blue Skies

Here's a clip from a convention where Brent talks about the recording and how he was disappointed it wasn't originally on the soundtrack despite his recording it. It also states that Frakes played the trombone for the recording, but as usual it's difficult to tell if it's Brent pulling our leg or if Frakes really did record the trombone part (IRL Frakes does indeed play Trombone)

Did anyone actually enjoy that entire moment at all? The whole thing that cringe inducing to me. Perfect example of how badly out of touch Trek was with modern audiences that it took completely scrapping it and starting fresh again with nuTrek.

I found BOTH Spiner singing AND nuKirk playing Sabotage cringe inducing. So it didn't get better at all. It's only a different form of cringe now.

nuKirk was playing/singing something somewhere? I don't remember.

^Somehow not a scene for classical music. I rather liked it.

Re: Star Trek: Nemesis - The Deluxe Edition Soundtrack from Varèse Sar

Sorry to resurrect but has anybody got their CD? I ordered it in December and it was supposed to be released 1/6/2014. Just curious about the status I checked and it said it shipped but the shipping date was 12/12/2013.

Re: Star Trek: Nemesis - The Deluxe Edition Soundtrack from Varèse Sar

Still waiting for mine to ship. :(

Status: Pending

Re: Star Trek: Nemesis - The Deluxe Edition Soundtrack from Varèse Sar

My guess would be that the CDs started to ship on the release date (January 6), so I'd give it a few days to arrive.

Re: Star Trek: Nemesis - The Deluxe Edition Soundtrack from Varèse Sar

That was what I thought but I got thrown by the fact that my order status says shipped with a shipping date of 12/12/13. Must of been a goof.

Re: Star Trek: Nemesis - The Deluxe Edition Soundtrack from Varèse Sar

Got an email to tell me mine has shipped now. They must have been keeping an eye on my TrekBBS posts. ;)
