Star Trek: Nemesis - As Never Seen Before (Update)

Don't get me wrong, you're getting a lot out of a little. But as is still usual the A.I. is guessing, which is why her teeth are different and her eyes aren't black.
Teeth looking different is a good trade off I think as in the source and previous upgraded versions they weren´t even teeth, just some distorted textures there. Regarding the eyes, in that particular scene it seems Topaz already changed the colour of her eyes a bit from black to dark brown, and then HitPaw made them look like some blueish grey. That could be fixed with Photoshop, frame by frame or finding a way to improve the eyes keeping the black colour (which is somehow appreciable in the source screenshot albeit quite blurry) and then masking that part in the upgraded v2 version. I´ve been checking the improved scenes and that issue is present at concrete shots, then in other shots we see the black eyes. There´s no easy solution for this unfortunately...

Cheers

Testing the new "Project Starlight" model from Topaz for this edit with awesome results¡¡ Forget about HitPaw, this is far better altought HitPaw could still be useful for some concrete things.

UPDATE: There will be some new surprises for the Extended Cut besides the additional scenes and the newly improved versions of the SV new scenes. Also the editing of the ending scenes is finished, with the new order of the scenes hopefully handling the issues present in the SV and the Theatrical Version.

UPDATE: The musical score for the ending part of the movie is completed! I'm sure it will give you some chills. Now waiting for the improvements on Topaz Starlight model to proceed to the remaining scenes upscaling.

Hi¡ I´ve been thinking about the possibility of including the "Shinzon Plans" scene in the Extended Cut, but it´s difficult as it introduces Shinzon before the theatrical reveal scene on the Scimitar. Besides being a quite good scene, it gives some explanation to where is the Romulan fleet during Shinzon´s planned attack on Earth and why they´re not going along the Scimitar. They clearly did that scene before Shinzon´s presentation and didn´t take that into account, but it would be great to include it some way. So I´d like to hear any opinions or ideas about how to include the scene.

This is the scene (from that linked timecode):

I would definitely like to see a version with absolutely all available scenes included, ideally with Dolby Vision and Atmos and the full bitrate of the 4K Blu-ray preserved if possible (I don’t care if the file is over 100GB).

The Extended version will hopefully feature all the deleted scenes but some have been trimmed for the edit. The software I´m using for the edit can´t render in DV, only in HDR, so for now there can only be a 1080p version.

I really look forward to seeing this, and will be fascinated by the choices made for the variations you've got planned. I liked Nemesis well enough to see it in cinemas 3 times and bought pretty much every official physical release. It always needed a studio sanctioned special longer version, but I guess the stumbling block is the theatrical cut is the Director's preference having whittled everything down to under 2 hours, and being somewhat tone deaf to all the criticism since that it lost too many choice TNG character moments.

Many years ago I remember contributing ideas to an extended edition thread, but I'm not sure it ever really got finished. Certainly there weren't the amazing tools available then to clean up and enhance the poor quality deleted scenes.

I would just like to ask consideration be given to changing the main title sequence to be a more traditional 3 minute starscape with cast & production crew names that fade in/out - ending with an approach to Remus & Romulus after Stuart Baird's credit. Something that's in-line with the previous films that goes from Alexander Courage's bars striking up over the Paramount logo and then into a sweeping theme from the movie that plays longer. I always feel it was a mistake not to have a build-up of anticipation as the starfield goes by - and to just instead dive straight into the twin planets, through the Star Trek Nemesis title lettering.

Actually more than that, there's a specific piece of music hidden in the A New Ending suite that would really fit. See timing 1:47 to 4:47. I don't know whether it has since been included isolated in an expanded soundtrack. But when you listen to the end credits, sandwiched between the Motion Picture theme and its reprise... is a beautiful piece that feels like it's a lament for Data's death.

Hi. Yeah, there were several attempts to edit the movie, most of them weren´t finished. I think this is the most ambitious Nemesis Fan Project so far, and from the first moment I´ve been trying to run from including too much fan service, like flashbacks from TNG or the other movies, added references etc. In my opinion, some fan edits tend to rely too much on those, making them look more amateurish.

But that change you´re proposing is not fan service, but rather a great idea and a logical change as I also don´t understand why they had to change the Main Tittle sequence just for the last TNG movie. Btw, totally agreed. That theme is beautiful and it absolutely fits with the story. In fact, it verse part appears occasionally during the movie, for example in the themes "Firing Sequence", "Positronic Signal" or "The Scorpion" when they are escaping from the Scimitar. It´s like a "Data´s" theme for the movie with a melancholic, almost sad feel. Like you said, it´s like a lament for Data's death. The chorus part, not heard during the movie except for the end credits, is awesome as well, and it´s kind of magnificent by the 2nd time it appears (from 03:35 in the video you linked). I didn´t like how they mostly cut that theme for the End Credits, only to sandwich it between two repetitions of the TMP theme reprise. That didn´t make any sense.

So I will definitely try to add a new Main Tittle sequence, as well as editing the score for the End Credits. That theme doesn´t appear isolated in the Varèse Sarabande Records in their "Star Trek Nemesis: The Deluxe Edition" expanded score but it´s included in two alternate versions of the End Credits. It´s curious how they didn´t include the film version of the End Credits and that fact only increases the impression that the End Credits were done on a rushed or nonsense way.
