Could be fun. I wonder whether it will be considered canon or not? Even if it is, I'm sure the storylines will be incredibly isolated from the larger universe.

Seems unlikely based on the concept, I'm fine with that. Not everything needs to be canon.

I’m good with this, although I sincerely hope it’s canon.

I’d also like to know what era this is set in.

Wow, the guy who makes one of the least entertaining cartoons I've ever been forced to watch is making Star Trek? Cool. Chalk up yet another reason for me to avoid CBSAA like a plague.

I've seen a variation of this comment a lot today. I thought Rick and Morty were popular and regarded as a pretty good series. I've never seen it, though.

They're popular as all get out. I just personally can't stand the show. It's one of those cartoons where the whole point of it is to shit on the memory things liked by people older than twenty, in this case Marty McFly and Doc Brown.

I am 41 Back to the future is my favourite movie and I certainly don't think they shit on the memory of things I like. I actually very much enjoy Rick & Morty. It's clever, funny and balls to the wall nuts .

Then I expect you will enjoy this new show. I expect I won't.

How about waiting until there are actual episodes released?

For all you know it will be nothing like R&M.
This guy only worked as a writer and writers assistant on Season 1.

“Mike won our hearts with his first sentence: ‘I want to do a show about the people who put the yellow cartridge in the food replicator so a banana can come out the other end.’ His cat’s name is Riker. His son’s name is Sagan. The man is committed,” Kurtzman said. “He’s brilliantly funny and knows every inch of every Trek episode, and that’s his secret sauce: he writes with the pure, joyful heart of a true fan. As we broaden the world of ‘Trek’ to fans of all ages, we’re so excited to include Mike’s extraordinary voice.”

Pass, not for me. But hey, others enjoy! Seems like we are finally getting the smorgasbord of Trek choices and I think that's a very good thing.
