I mean, the Maquis WEREN'T given second chances. The crew of the Voyager were the only Maquis not slaughtered aside from Ensign Ro as far as we know.

Also, Nick wasn't a Maquis. That was Tom Paris.

RO LAREN has entered the room. Also? The Maquis aboard VOYAGER weren't the only ones to not get slaughtered. In fact, many of them were rescued by Starfleet.

But my greater point still stands, in regards to the Dominion War. You'd think that Starfleet would have cut some slack with the likes of Nick Lorcano in the face of such a threat.

For anyone who doesn't think that Locarno became Paris for credit reasons, I'd love to hear why Taurik became Vorik. Was Taurik irredeemable? ;)

Would you want one of your leads on a Trek show being known as the one who got a friend killed for his arrogance? And then trying to force others to cover it up?
One of the leads got three people killed and covered it up.

This could really be her, the hair is similar enough

And this reminded me of that :D

I just don't believe that's the case. Not even the writers of the episode have said that.

Even if it's true, they'd never admit it. That's just not how it works.

It's like pitchers, in baseball, when they intentionally hit someone with a pitch. They NEVER freely admit that they were throwing at the batter. They always say something like "It just got out of control". They don't admit the truth, even when it's obvious. Same story here.

But Lorcano caused Wesley to get left back a year. Wesley "fans" would have never accepted him :)

They did an entire episode about the crew of the Voyager reacting to the slaughter of the Maquis.

Also, I mentioned Ro in my post.

Why do you think there are so many credits for the two Maquis episodes in DS9? So Croker and Behr couldn't make any claims.

Face it, they were being jerks.
I don't know if I'd say they were being jerks. The Maquis were created specifically to be a sort of cross-franchise storyline between TNG and DS9 to set things up for Voyager. That's the kind of situation where you want to make sure you won't owe anyone for using the concept.
