GREAT episode, with a solid cliffhanger.
- Cetacean Ops *finally* making it to screen put a smile on my face, and the dolphins had me screaming.
They're quite hot on Ruttheford it seems.
- Billups losing his cool when it was implied the Cerritos wasn't the best ship in the fleet had me rolling
Lol... yes, but if that was live action, I don't think any captain would necessarily allow for THAT kind of an outburst - though the senior staff already knew each other for a while, so who knows.
- The reason for Rutherford's error messages was so sweet
Yes, but that memory he recovered as a result of the wipe may have something to do with Freeman being implicated in the destruction of Pakled planet or could have something to do with him having an implant to begin with.
- Tendi getting promoted first makes sense to me, but I am confused about her boss deciding she should change careers
Agreed. I also found it a bit odd because we hadn't seen her doing much medical work to begin with... still T'Ana did mention Tendi 'mastered' everything she set herself out to do (or did I mishear that word?)... so, either way, this is a good thing for Tendi... she still works in the science department, just a different branch.
And its not like senior officers cannot recognize a potential in fellow ensigns and point out to them that they would flourish in other areas - that was actually nice.
- The Archimedes is one beautiful ship.
It looked ok.
Looks like the Excelsior class got another upgrade cycle which changed almost all sections. New nacelle design, pylons, and a saucer that's more oval shaped... SF seems to have gone Sovereign class on the Excelsior.
It kinda confirms my hypothesis that SF keeps certain ship designs in service for LONG periods of time and just upgrades them periodically... internally (most frequent) and externally (less frequent - something along the lines of every 50-100 years - superstructure would be upgraded at this point too so the ship would probably NOT look anything like it started out with after 200-300 years or so - and each upgrade cycle would technically make it 'brand new').
Its possible SF actually keeps all its designs and just retires them for a while and then brings them out redesigned and upgraded after say 100-200.
Maybe the NX-01 became the Akira class in the 24th century and we hadn't seen it in the 23rd because SF didn't think the design was needed at the time.
