I liked this episode better than last week's again. I LOVED the subplot with Tendi and the "Ascension Guy" Apparently ascending hurts instead of growing on a fungus, like Discovery would make you believe, the multiverse is balanced on the back of a smiling koala  And I loved how obsessive Tendi got at the end about somebody maybe not liking her. And how obsessive Tendi was about helping that guy. I just love Tendi getting obsessive. "We're BEST FRIENDS! I'm gonna die with my best friend!"
The Mariner and Freeman plot was a bit cliche and predictable but alright. Still liked the little bits of camaraderie between Mariner and Boimler they showed. But I honestly think they could have gotten more out of Boimler trying to be "bad" seems like that could have lead to a lot of jokes.
But at least they got a lot of jokes in about how dorky the senior stuff is "Leather strips are ostentatious!" "Ransom will sing and play the guitar for hours! He wrote the songs himself and all of them are about the month he spent living in Barcelona!"
That was fun. And it was nice to see how truly competent Mariner can be and what a good team she and her mom would make...
Sadly Rutherford (who, I think, is my favourite character) got short changed again this week. Hopefully he'll get a plot again soon...

Seems like a "ship wide calamity" will be a staple of this series, but at least this time it was a pretty imaginative one with nice visuals, instead of the boring crystal-obsessed aliens from last week.

All-in-all a solid 8 again, a huge step up from the episode last week which I didn't enjoy.

That's how it is in Trek (Tribbles? Weird celestial anomalies?)

This was another fun one.
I liked the focus on Mariner and her mother's relationship. Capt. Freeman torturing Mariner by promoting her and making her attend staff meeting was pretty fun. I loved how the staff meetings were kind of a play on the constant meetings in TNG and Voy.
Tendi's arc with the ascension guy was pretty good too. Ascension actually being incredibly painful was kind of a nice twist on how it's usually portrayed in Trek.

A 7.

IMO - not quite as good as the first 3. I laughed and found some stuff funny, but IMO they're a bit too serious here in spots.

The real point is that "girl" is the modern vernacular for "maiden", which is used for "young woman". In fact, the actress playing the role of Kes was in her early twenties, before her character "ascended" in 1997 (VOY, S4E2: "The Gift").

You're completely wrong. A girl is a child.

The Kir'shara Arc? Maybe. I'm forgetting offhand. Could have been mentioned by T'Pol when she and Archer were in the Forge.

Spock's inner eyelid specifically was never brought up again. :p

Archer offered T’Pol his sunglasses, IIRC. She then brought up the inner eyelid.

At least some other episode of another series mentioned it. That's good.

Trek tends to forget certain physical traits of species once they're established.
