Star Trek/Legion of Super-Heroes coming!

Grrr! Arrgh! You just beat me to it!

Well, the first Star Trek/X-Men team-up was really good, so it can be done well. However, as the 2nd and 3rd Star Trek/X-Men team-up showed, it can be done really badly as well.

Somewhere John Ordover is wishing he was editing this. (There is no bigger Legion fan than John . . . .)

ehh dont know how i feel about this. Star Trek/Xmen wasn't bad,, but well, i just dont like superheroes and trek mixing. But if any superhero and/or faction would be work the best, its probably the legion.

Having no interest in 'Legion of Superheroes', I'll have to pass again. IMO, IDW started out going in all the right directions, and then things started to fizzle out. Now everything they do it pretty well uninteresting to me.

I've known about this for a month now.

And I'm giddy as hell.

I cried tears of motherfucking joy when the covers crossed my desk.

I wrote Bob Greenberger a fan letter, back in the long ago days of 1991, when Keith Giffen was on Legion and Howard Weinstein had just started writing Trek, asking if we could someday see a Trek/Legion crossover.

I want to see Kirk deliver a flying leg kick to Darkseid! I want to see Kirk arrange a threesome with Duo Damsel -- or a foursome with Triplicate Girl! I want to see Spock and Brainy try and out-think each other! I want to see Chekov totally intimidated by Night Lass or Supergirl.

Tears. Of. Joy.

Can. Not. Wait.

This is why I'm a Star Trek fan. Because stuff like this is cool.

Okay, I am definitely going to have to check this out. Could be fun.

So when do we get Batman/Star Trek/Predator? :)

^^^
That'll be right after they do the Flash/Star Trek: TAS/Lawrence of Arabia/CBS Evening News with Walter Cronkite cross-over.

Legion of who what now? I knew Allyn would be keen because he's posted before about wanting to see this happen, but I have no idea who the hell those people on the cover are.

Well, that's two big IDW announcements and two comics that are just not lighting my fire. Will the next one be The Adventures of Neelix? Ferengi Funnies? Chakotay Loves Seven? The Courage of Porthos?

From left to right...

Lightning Lad, Saturn Girl, Cosmic Boy, Chameleon Boy, Shadow Lass.

At this point in Legion continuity, which appears to be pre-Crisis, they are...

Lightning Lad is believed by everyone at this time to be Garth Ranzz from the planet Winath, but he's actually a shapeshifter named Proty. (In his natural form, he looks like a Founder.) He has electrical powers.

Saturn Girl (Imra Ardeen) is from Saturn's moon Titan, and she's a telepath. Garth and Imra are married at this point in time, and they will have three children.

Cosmic Boy (Rokk Krinn) is from Braal, where he was a champion magnaball player. He has magnetic powers. (I've mused in the past on who would win in a fight -- Magneto or Rokk. I think Rokk is more powerful, but Magneto would play dirty.) He later loses his powers, then becomes the Time Trapper, one of the Legion's greatest villains, in a timey-wimey kind of way.

Chameleon Boy is a Durlan named Reep Daggle. He's a shapeshifter.

Shadow Lass is Tasmia Mallor from the planet Talok. She can project darkness and extinguish light. In my favorite period of Legion history, she's married to Mon-El (Lar Gand from the planet Daxam), who has all of Superman's powers, but instead of a kryptonite vulnerability he's vulnerable to lead.

The Legion has been around for decades and have a devoted fandom who rival Trekkies in their enthusiasm.

I'm sure there will be fans of this, but it just seems wrong somehow to import superheroes into the world of Star Trek. When I saw Planet X in bookstores in 1998, it seemed wrong, too. I guess I'm just a bit of a curmudgeon. I've also never been that partial to the superhero genre, which is surely part of it.

The DCU is so vast, Harvey, it's more like importing Star Trek into the universe of LoSH, if it helps any :P

This is sooo great. Of any DC/Trek crossover, this makes the most sense: the Legion is DC at its most sf, and TOS is Trek at its most comic-booky.

After some thought I've decided I'm rather looking forward to this. Could be a train wreck, could be great, either way will be entertaining.
