Star Trek/Legion of Super-Heroes coming!

^ Agree on all the points you made except one which I'll get to in a second...and the writer revealed when this was first announced that this took place from a Legion stand point directly or a little bit after the Great Darkness Saga. I just loved the concept of the Imperial Planets. Mirror Universe concept meshed together for both universes? I wasn't disappointed that the two teams after the first issue because the issue was setting up the setting and introducing the problem. Next issue I'm guessing is when we'll have interaction. I am ready for MORE!

Some thoughts on the first issue...

I love that the captain of the Imperial Planets starship is Tommy Tomorrow. That's just right in so many ways. :)

(Okay, I'll explain. Tommy Tomorrow is vaguely Kirk-ish in the original comics. He's a total douchebag in Howard Chaykin's Twilight. His appearance here hits the best of both -- he's a douchebag Kirk.)

Also, I love the Imperial Planets starship designs. The crossed Legion Cruiser/Klingon D-7 is pretty awesome.

This is slightly post-"Great Darkness Saga" for the Legion. Recent enough that Imra and Garth would name-check Darkseid.

I was a little disappointed that the two "teams" haven't met yet, but I have to admit that you really can't beat the final page.

I have to wonder what the DTI report on this would be, when all is said and done.

In short. It was fun. It was what I wanted. Now I want to see more. :)

Finally picked up last week's comics, and this issue was at the top of the read pile. All I can say is, DITTO to everything you said here. (And thanks for the details on Tommy Tomorrow; I have a passing familiarity with the character, but I came into the Legion during the shortly before the Mark Waid reboot so I didn't totally get what they were going for.)

Can't wait for next issue!

I'm really peeved, two of my favorites interests, I pre-ordered this months ago where I get my comics and they did not get it in. If I have to get this on eBay I'm gonna be so pissed. Really looking forward to it.

Supply did get overwhelmed by demand. A second printing was underway before the first printings arrived in shops. If your local comic shop really did place an order with Diamond, they'll get their copies eventually. Ask them to check what was listed on their shipping documents.

That might be happening because DC essentially relaunched its "New 52" titles, and it may be that some of the new people decided to try it in the "strong wave lists all boats" theory.

There are lots of ways to get a copy of #1, local comics store, online orders, eBay when it gets compiled into a trade paperback, and plenty of others. It's worth the extra effort, and I hope you get your copy easily and quickly.

For what it's worth, I got hosed, too, on the first issue, and I had to go searching last Saturday to find the version I wanted (the Keith Giffen cover). Orders topped what IDW printed, hence the solicitation of a second printing before the first even shipped. (The same thing happened with Star Trek #2, by the way; IDW has solicited a second printing for that.)

Timothy you already have the website in your sig...no need to repost it in the thread.

Another awesome episode. The writing is superb and references to prior missions for both the Enterprise crew and Legionaires. The artwork is fantastic. I continue to love the Imperial Planets concept. This could be somewhat confusing for Trek fans wanting to read it who are not hardcore LOSH fans or even familiar with them but the plot is simple enough to still follow along. Yeah this is fantastic so far!

EDIT: I think the Emperor is meant to imply that is it this merger mirror universe of Spock but I don't think it will turn out to be Spock and neither do I think there is an actual Emperor.
I think that the Castellan is doing a Manchurian Candidate type thing here and he is the true power behind the Empire.

Finally got my copy today-- absolutely loved it. Not to worry, Admiral Young, I'm just a casual LOSH fan and I felt the story gave me enough information that it was okay if I didn't know what missions the Legion was referring to.

While I usually don't like it when it takes too long for the main characters to appear (or meet each other in this case), that closing page of the Enterprise crew and the Legion finally seeing each other face to face felt worth the wait.

I will admit I was skeptical about this at first, but I find I am enjoying it so far... even though I'd never even heard of the Legion of Super Heroes before this.

This is the crossover gift that keeps on giving! I am enjoying the hell out of this. I expected that it would be good but not as good as it has been. There are references galore on both sides, and very nice splash pages as Kirk and Cos explain their two different universes. Brainy and Spock's interaction is as what I expected it would be and the art is just fantastic. Uhura references Galia as her room mate at the Academy!!! I can't wait for the next issue.

I was expecting kirk to hit on saturn girl like he did with jean in the x - men crossover.
