Star Trek: First Frontier on Kickstarter

well, if they get too much flack for using TWOK music they could use the Krull Soundtrack- Horner stole from himself and when did Krull.

Or, they could go for an off-the-wall approach and use non-Trek scores. Jerry Goldsmith's score for The Wind and the Lion has some wonderful themes that could lend themselves fairly well to a science fiction setting. It doesn't hurt that Goldsmith reused portions of the score for the Klingon theme in TMP, and in some spots in TFF.

That's good old Two-Note Horner for ya. You can hear some of both scores in his Aliens soundtrack too. I'm surprised some elements didn't also appear in Titanic.

According to a Jonathan Lane interview with Kenny back in March the release date is expected to be in October.

"All principal photography is completed including all live action and all miniature work. Lee Stringer has the miniature footage and is working his magic on all of the Constitution-class footage, plus adding his vast knowledge of CG to make the film look real. Dan Smith at DAVE School at Universal is allocating green screen inserts and VFX shots to his students to complete as assignments. John Pruner, our DP, will be color correcting the film. I am completing the sound effects, finalizing the score, and doing touch up editing. The film is very close to an edit lock, and we anticipate a release around October."

I read all three parts of the interview, interesting reading. Hopefully they can meet their October release. Looking forward with fingers crossed.

Um Aliens music WAS recycled from STII:TWoK (the latter was his first big gig.) :)

I was thinking of the command center scene showing the takedown of the terrorist camp in Patriot Games...same musical piece from the opening of Aliens with the approach of the Nostromo shuttle...

I did not see Patriot Games, but the music at the beginning of Aliens when the Nostromo shuttle is discovered and opened is a piece by Khachaturian (sp?) that was also used in 2001 (when the DIscovery is first shown, and overlaid over Frank Poole's run around the centrifuge set).

Like that takeoff on English accents on SNL some years ago. Looks to be pretty good though, with a look of its own, so to speak.

To clarify, it's not the accents, but rather the volume level of the dialog, significantly (but not only) relative to the music level.

Just a rummer at this stage, but someone I know online has claimed that Kenny Smith told him that he plans to release the film next month (September 2018) and that the release date has not been officially announced due to concerns regarding how CBS might react to it. The film does not comply with the fan film guidelines as much of the film was completed long before the guidelines came out.

Lets hope we finally get to see this film.

I'm pretty sure they said in-progress productions should be allowed to release when the guidelines hit. I don't blame them for being skittish either way.
