Star Trek end credits and soundtrack discussion thread

Re: Star Trek end credits 9 minute music clip

I'm buying this soundtrack. That's all there is to it. [Bail Organa] The debate...is OVER. [/Bail Organa]

Re: Star Trek end credits 9 minute music clip

is it just me or does the track"nero death experience" sound like it was lifted from the phantom menace?

Re: Star Trek end credits 9 minute music clip

OK, I'll admit it, I'm a big baby... that clip brought a tear to my eye. Michael Giacchino's end theme for Star Trek was gorgeous.

Is it May 7th yet??!!

Re: Star Trek end credits 9 minute music clip

After hearing that, I really can't wait.

I have soooo much soundtracky goodness on my wish list at the moment. Star Trek... BSG Season 4 with Daybreak.... Caprica.... and eventually Razor/The Plan....

Ooooh and supposedly Mark Snow is releasing a new X-Files soundtrack album at some point...

Re: Star Trek end credits 9 minute music clip

It's a pretty good track. It did sometimes feel as the TOS theme was shoehorned in, but it wasn't terrible by any means. I like it.

Re: Star Trek Soundtrack on YouTube

Merging this with the other soundtrack thread. Please stand by...

Re: Star Trek Soundtrack on YouTube

Hi All,

Some "Enterprising" individual has co-opted an early copy of the soundtrack and posted it on YouTube. Here's the link to the first clip. Additional clips on his site:

I was in the middle of listening to this when track six wouldn't load. It looks like Varese has taken the tracks down.

The stuff I've heard so far has grown on me though.

So far, I'm getting used to it. the main theme ditty is catchy, which is good since there's plenty of it. My only question is why at about fifty seconds into Track 11 Nero fiddles... does it suddenly break into the Gondor theme from LOTR? It's not just similar, it's borderline copyright infringement. Is it a nod to Karl Urban who was actually from Rohan? I sure hope not, that's just cheap. I mean is the theme from heroes burried in there somewhere as well, but I just can't hear it because I never watched the show? If someone has a logical answer, please enlighten me because it's very distracting and out of place, even as a tribute. And I swear, if Spock starts lighting beacon fires to rally the Federation, I am so walking out.

I can hear the similarities, but it's not the same thing.

Kinda like hearing Carmina Burana and thinking it's The Omen. Definately thought of Lord of the Rings though.
