I expect that as well... both previous seasons had giant twists around the mid-season point that ultimately led to highly controversial, but exciting, enjoyable and sometimes even cathartic closing acts, and I think this week's two-parter will be no different from this norm. I can already predict I'll give the majority of my knee-jerk 10s for the rest of the season just like I did last year and this statement won't come back to bite me in any way, shape or form.

I just hope that the "twist" is not "the ship in the nebula is discovery and it caused the burn".

I wasn't rating things back in the Berman days but in general I am pretty stingy with 10 ratings. A 10 needs to be one of the best things I have seen on TV in years and nothing in CBS Star Trek does that for me even PIC and LD which I loved. The LD finale is about as close as it got but for a 10 it needs to be a run out and burn the ears off my friends whether they like it or not

I rated Forget Me Not a 10, which is the first time I've ever done so for Discovery. Honestly perhaps I was being a bit too forgiving, but the episode legit made me cry, which is a rarity in Trek.

Other 10s for me would be The Inner Light, Duet, Necessary Evil, The Visitor, Far Beyond the Stars, In the Pale Moonlight, and Living Witness. Oh yes, and Calypso.

Strangely enough they do. I have had several friends and acquaintances say they did not bother with the various new Trek series because "some person called Doomcock" was telling the world that the shows were so bad they were being cancelled.

The problem is, I think one part of this will be the case, in that Discovery will be the one sending the distress signal.

"The Buuuurrrrrrrn", as Michael pronounces it, I think was caused another way, but my fear is that it has to do with Michael, so she has to disobey some more orders and try to save the galaxy again, secretly being the one behind every reason why the galaxy is safe for intergalactic travel.

Whereas, I tend to be the exact opposite. I usually rate episodes of any show in isolation. The one real exception is the MU Lorca reveal which utterly ruined Season One for me.
I still say that's an incredibly asinine, immature name.

Indeed, yes, or in the context of the full show itself. Every single show is going to impact me in a different way and so rating a 10 in Discovery isn't going to be the same as a 10 in Brooklyn 99 or MASH or such for me. Each show is different.

Doomcock is what happens when even Mexican wrestling thinks you're too over-the-top and ridiculous and tells you to find another job. ;)

That's what the indications from this two-parter seem to be. We're looking at a Massive Overreaction in the making.

    Georgiou-centric? Check.
Turning point of the season? Check.
A tough choice has to be made? Check.
    Rumors of something TOS-related? Check.
    Kelvin Timeline reference? Bonus Check.

And that's only based off of what we currently know. The trailer and the advanced-promo pics tell us very, very little. Which means they're hiding something. So...

    Big Reveal? Double-Bonus Check.

Oh yeah, it’s going to be a ripper, that’s for sure. I just hope it’s good. If people don’t like good, that’s totally fine. I really want it to go back to being what it was, even if it’s controversial. Especially if it’s controversial!

And don't forget she's also the reason Spock was who he was, so it could be something that reminds everyone of that "fact" again.
